The journey of the Integrated Farming and Production Center(IFPC) at MSU Sulu, College of Agriculture has been nothing short of transformative. Over the past three years, the IFPC has evolved from an idle land and neglected area to a thriving agricultural hub. This transformation is a direct result of hard work, collaboration and the unwavering support of the MSU Sulu Administration, led by Chancellor Nagder J. Abdurahman.
At the outset, the IFPC was a raw piece of land, requiring an extensive clearing and cleaning before any meaningful development can take place. Selective faculty of the College of Agriculture, Staff and students, along with the guidance and vision of the director of IFPC, came together to begin this monumental task. From removing the debris to preparing the soil, every step was taken to lay the groundwork for the future of MSU Sulu, College of Agriculture.
With the area now cleared, the vision for the MSU Sulu, College of Agriculture demo farm began to take shape. The IFPC became a symbol of sustainability, offering a space for students, farmers, and researchers alike to engage in agricultural practices that emphasize the balance of productivity and environmental conservation. The demo farm serve not only as an educational facility but also a demonstration site for sustainable farming practices, from crop rotation and organic fertilization to water management and agroforestry. The IFPC has hosted a variety of studies aimed at improving farming techniques, addressing local agricultural challenges, and promoting the use of advance sustainable method. Beyond research the IFPC hosted a training seminar aiming to equip local farmers with knowledge they need to enhance their agricultural practices.
Collaboration has been a cornerstone of the IFPC success. The center has worked closely with a wide range of partners, including MAFAR, the Office of Provincial Agriculture and LGUs.
The support and ledearship of Chancellor Nagder J. Abdurahman have been an instrumental in realizing the vision for the IFPC under his guidance, MSU Sulu fostered an environment where students are not only exposed to academic learning but also gain Hands-on experience in the real world application of agricultural practices. The IFPC become a bridge of education and practicalities of farming, providing our students with the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real life agricultural challenges. The MSU Sulu, College of Agriculture IFPC Demo Farm transformation is a testament to the dedication and collaborative efforts of the MSU Sulu community.
