September 8β10, 2026 | Hotel Sentro, Legazpi City
The DSWD Academy, in partnership with DSWD Field Office V, conducted the Pre-Marriage Counseling Training for Batch 1, bringing together Social Workers from various provinces, cities, and municipalities across the Bicol Region.
The three-day training covered essential topics including Basic Social Work Counseling, Counseling Microskills, Communication in Marriage, Lifetime Commitment, Understanding Individual Differences, and You and Your Future Spouse. Participants also engaged in practical exercises, return demonstrations, group discussions, and evaluations designed to enhance their knowledge and counseling competencies.
The training serves as one of the requirements for the accreditation of Pre-Marriage Counselors, helping ensure that practitioners are equipped with the appropriate knowledge and counseling skills needed to provide effective and meaningful Pre-Marriage Counseling services.
Representing Iriga City were two (2) Registered Social Workers from the Office of the City Social Welfare and Development (OCSWD):

π©βπΌ Ms. Sharon L. Tud, RSW β Social Welfare Officer III
Their participation in this capacity-building initiative contributes to strengthening the City's ability to provide competent, responsive, and meaningful Pre-Marriage Counseling services, particularly for would-be married couples in Iriga City.
Through this initiative, couples can be better supported as they prepare for marriage, understand and appreciate each other's differences, strengthen communication, and build a strong foundation for a healthy, harmonious, and lasting family relationship.
β¨ Investing in the capacity of our Social Workers is also an investment in the future families of Iriga City. β€οΈ
