Drug-Free Basilan

What shall we do to make our beloved place drug-free? Salita lang ba?

Down to Barangay level provincial and municipal LGU in Basilan are heightening campaigns against prohibited drugs. This picture is one of the Barangay assemblies in Maluso where the Mayor and the Chief of Police are taking the lead in information dissemination.

After relief distribution as a convergent effort of LGU, security sector and other stakeholders in neighboring areas of Sumisip and Maluso, Basilan where hundreds of internally displaced persons where affected by recent armed conflict, the LCE of Maluso had initially met partners to give a brief orientation about present advocacy of the province which is to heighten campaign against prohibited drugs. Present during the short talk was Captain Saripada of AFP, Major John Cundo of the MPS and Captain Hassan of PPSC.

Our goal: Basilan as a Drug-Free Province.

Welcome everyone to the Basilan local chief evecutives' social media-based campaign against prohibited drugs and the promotion of a Drug-free Basilan.

A vision is set by Gov. Jim Hataman Salliman and the province's Mayors League headed by Maluso Mayor Hans Bud. Envisioning a Drug-free Basilan, the LCEs take a step further in its campaign against illegal drugs by uniting for the cause. True, the Province is stronger and more resilient, with the decisive leadership of Gov. Jim, but with the advent of the unity of the local Mayors for one cause, Basilan will not "go quietly into the night" tolerating illegal drugs. A Drug-free Basilan will be achieved, sooner, if not later.
