The Provincial Government, under the leadership of Governor Datu Pax Ali, convened the On-going Joint Meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC), and the Provincial Price Monitoring Council to address pressing concerns amid the current socio-economic challenges.

In his opening statement, Governor Datu Pax Ali emphasized the urgent need to strengthen food security initiatives as a cornerstone of the provinceโ€™s resilience. He outlined key strategies focused on ensuring sustainable food production and supply, including the enhancement of seed banking programs to preserve and distribute quality planting materials, continuous fingerlings distribution to support local fisheries and inland aquaculture, and increased investment in poultry production to augment food availability and livelihood opportunities.

The Governor also underscored the importance of sustaining and improving rice production efforts, recognizing it as a critical component in securing food sufficiency for the province. These initiatives aim not only to stabilize supply but also to empower local farmers and producers amid ongoing economic uncertainties.

Moreover, Governor Pax Ali highlighted the importance of sustaining the movement of the local economy by encouraging all stakeholders, government agencies, private sector partners, and the general public to actively patronize locally produced goods and farm products. Strengthening local demand, he emphasized, is vital in supporting farmers, micro-entrepreneurs, and small businesses, thereby ensuring that economic activities remain active and resilient within the province.

Alongside food security and economic efforts, the Governor emphasized the vital role of the security sector in maintaining peace and order, ensuring unhampered delivery of services, and protecting the welfare of communities during this period of crisis. He stressed that strong coordination among law enforcement agencies, local government units, and partner stakeholders remains essential in safeguarding stability across the province.

The meeting likewise reinforced the mandate of the Provincial Price Monitoring Council to intensify its monitoring efforts. Continuous surveillance of market prices is being prioritized to prevent overpricing, hoarding, and exploitation, thereby protecting consumers and ensuring the affordability of basic commodities.

In response to evolving conditions, the Provincial Government also announced adjustments in work arrangements across both the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) and Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs). To maintain operational efficiency while prioritizing health, safety, and resource management, the following measures are being adopted:
โ€ข Implementation of a Skeletal Workforce Scheme in government offices
โ€ข Adoption of Work-From-Home (WFH) arrangements where applicable

These adaptive measures aim to ensure the continuous delivery of essential public services while promoting flexibility and safety among government personnel.

The Provincial Government reiterates its commitment to proactive governance, collaborative action, and responsive policies to navigate current challenges. Through strengthened food security programs, active support for the local economy, vigilant price monitoring, and adaptive operational strategies, the province continues to uphold its mission of safeguarding the welfare and well-being of all constituents.

Magtulungan tayo. Magmalasakit. Sama-sama tayong babangon.

Maraming salamat at mabuhay ang Sultan Kudarat ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

The Department of Trade and Industry Sultan Kudarat, through its Halal Industry Development and Promotion Project (HIDPP), has successfully facilitated the Halal certification of the coffee products of the United Highlanders Farmers Producers Cooperative. The certification was granted by the Muslim Mindanao Halal Certification Board after verifying the enterpriseโ€™s compliance with established Halal standards.

This milestone forms part of DTIโ€™s broader strategy to strengthen the countryโ€™s position as a Halal Growth Corridor in Southeast Asia. Through the Halal certification program, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are supported in expanding their market reach both in the domestic and international markets, particularly in regions where Halal-certified products are highly demanded.

The United Highlanders Farmers Producers Cooperative, based in Barangay Nati, Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat, produces a range of locally processed products including coffee, cacao tablea, and virgin coconut oil. With the Halal certification, the cooperative is expected to further enhance the marketability and competitiveness of its products.

Consumers may support the cooperative by purchasing their specialty coffee products or by visiting their booths during various trade fairs organized by government agencies and private partners.

Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat โ€” The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sultan Kudarat conducted a Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) Orientation and Workshop on February 20, 2026, at the DTI Sultan Kudarat Conference Room. The activity was attended by provincial office personnel of DTI and staff from the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO) of Sultan Kudarat.

The orientation aimed to improve the participantsโ€™ understanding of the proper industry classification of businesses in accordance with the updated 2009 PSIC. Serving as resource speaker was Mr. Arman Jay L. Cipriano of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Sultan Kudarat, who provided comprehensive discussions on the standards and framework of PSIC, which are aligned with internationally recognized industrial classification systems.
Mr. Cipriano explained that the 2009 PSIC, as adopted by PSA, serves as the official framework for categorizing businesses and economic activities based on their primary industry. He discussed the various PSIC sections, excluding Sections O (Public Administration and Defense), T (Activities of Households as Employers), and U (Activities of Extraterritorial Organizations), which are not commonly applicable to MSMEs.

The resource speaker emphasized the importance of correctly identifying a businessโ€™s primary activity, noting that many MSMEs tend to mix multiple lines of business. He advised that industry classification must be based on the enterpriseโ€™s major source of income to ensure accuracy and reliability in data reporting.
Furthermore, Mr. Cipriano highlighted the crucial role of local government units (LGUs) in determining and validating the industry classification of registered enterprises. The integration and adoption of PSIC in the Electronic Business Permit and Licensing System (e-BPLS), he explained, will significantly improve the accuracy of industry data, thereby supporting evidence-based planning and policy formulation.

The orientation and workshop sought to capacitate DTI and LEDIPO personnel, particularly those involved in the processing and issuance of Business Name Registration and Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) certificates. Strengthening their technical knowledge on PSIC will contribute to more accurate enterprise profiling, improved data management, and enhanced delivery of government services.

Through this initiative, DTI Sultan Kudarat continues to promote data-driven governance and inter-agency collaboration in support of local economic development.
