More than just a school routine, the flag raising ceremony during the opening of classes became a literal lifesaver. Being gathered in the open area kept the learners organized and safe when the earthquake struck.

This wasn't the perfect school opening we expected, but it showed that our earthquake drills truly paid off. The kids didn't panic; they were calm and knew how to respond. Huge salute to our courageous teaching and non teaching personnel for keeping the learners safe.
