Tubig na Malinis, Buhay na Ligtas!

Ang access sa malinis, ligtas, at sapat na tubig ay mahalaga sa kalusugan, kabuhayan, at magandang kinabukasan ng bawat pamilya.

WATERSHED & WETLANDS REHABILITATION AND MANAGEMENT 🌊

Ang aton watersheds kag wetlands amo ang natural nga proteksyon batok baha, tag-init, kag erosion. Nagahatag man ini sang tubig para sa panimalay, agrikultura, kag wildlife, kag nagaprotekta sang importante nga biodiversity.

🌱 Paano kita makabulig?
✅ Magtanom kag mag-atipan sang indigenous/native trees sa watershed areas
✅ Likawan ang pagpang-utid sang kahoy kag pagkaguba sang vegetation sa watershed
✅ Indi maghaboys sang basura sa suba, sapa, kag wetlands
✅ Magpakigbahin sa river, watershed, kag wetland clean-up activities
✅ Protektahan ang mga wetland bilang breeding kag feeding areas sang wildlife
✅ Magreport sang illegal logging, quarrying, dumping, kag iban pa nga aktibidad nga makahalit sa aton watershed

DENR CENRO BAROTAC NUEVO CONDUCTS CWR MONITORING COORDINATION IN JANIUAY

On August 11, 2026, personnel from DENR CENRO Barotac Nuevo, headed by Ma’am Cherry Ann Lazarte,Forest Technician 1/UNIT Head,Compliance and Monitoring Unit, visited the MENRO Janiuay Office and coordinated with MENRO Joven B. Barranco regarding the conduct of Certificate of Wildlife Registration (CWR) monitoring in the Municipality of Janiuay.

The coordination aims to strengthen collaboration between DENR CENRO Barotac Nuevo and LGU Janiuay in monitoring, protecting, and conserving wildlife resources and their habitats.

🌱🦅🐍 Through continued partnership and field monitoring, we can help ensure the protection of Janiuay’s rich biodiversity and natural resources for future generations.

A watershed is an area of land where rainwater and other surface water flow toward a common river, stream, lake, or other body of water. It provides us with water for drinking, agriculture, livelihood, and ecosystems.

🌿 WHY PROTECT OUR WATERSHEDS?
✅ Ensures a sustainable supply of clean and safe water
✅ Prevents soil erosion, flooding, and landslides
✅ Protects rivers, springs, and other water sources
✅ Conserves forests and wildlife habitats
✅ Supports agriculture and local livelihoods
✅ Helps address the impacts of climate change

🚫 WHAT THREATS OUR WATERSHEDS?
❌ Illegal logging and indiscriminate tree cutting
❌ Illegal mining and quarrying
❌ Kaingin and forest burning
❌ Improper waste disposal
❌ Destruction of riverbanks and riparian vegetation

Ang biodiversity amo ang nagkalain-lain nga tanom, sapat, insekto, kag iban pa nga mga organismo nga nagapuyo sa aton kabukiran, suba, kag mga natural nga habitat.

Sa Janiuay, mangin kabahin kita sa pagpreserbar sang aton manggad nga kinaiyahan. 🌱💚

❌ Indi pagdakpon, patyon, ibaligya, ukon ipamaligya ang mga wildlife.
❌ Indi pagdisturbohon ang ila natural nga habitat.
❌ Indi magkuha sang wildlife bilang pets kon wala sang legal nga permiso.

Found in the forests of Mt. Dalyang, Barangay Canauillian, Janiuay, Iloilo, the locally known “Oroy” ( Amorphopallus cidarioides) is one of the remarkable plants that reflects the rich biodiversity of our municipality.

🌱 OROY ( Amorphopallus cidarioides) — JANIUAY’S LOCAL FLAGSHIP FLORA

This special flora is being promoted as a Local Flagship Flora Species of Janiuay, representing our continuing commitment to protect the forests and natural habitats of our municipality.

This morning, August 3, 2026, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Janiuay conducted aerial monitoring of quarry operations using a drone in the permitted quarry area along the Suage River.

The activity forms part of MENRO’s continuing monitoring and compliance efforts to ensure that quarry operations are conducted within their authorized areas and in accordance with existing environmental laws, regulations, and permit conditions. Drone technology enhances monitoring efficiency by providing accurate aerial documentation while helping protect the river ecosystem and surrounding environment.

MENRO Janiuay remains committed to responsible resource management and environmental protection for the benefit of present and future generations.

Turning Plastic Waste into Valuable Resources! 🌿♻️

A resident of Brgy. Damoong, Janiuay visited the MENRO Office and brought 3 kilograms of low-density plastic waste under the Barter Basura Program.

In exchange for helping reduce plastic pollution, the resident received two (2) sachets of detergent powder and one (1) sachet of fabric conditioner.

The Barter Basura Program encourages Janiuaynons to properly collect and recycle low-density plastic waste while receiving useful household items in return. Through this initiative, LGU Janiuay continues to promote environmental responsibility, proper waste management, and community participation in protecting our environment.

Together, let’s keep Janiuay clean, green, and sustainable—one bottle of plastic waste at a time! 💚🌍
