In support of the National Fire Prevention Month, the Bureau of Plant Industry – National Seed Quality Control Services Region 6 successfully conducted a Fire Drill and initiated the development of an Emergency Response Plan for Business (ERPB) on March 23, 2026.

This activity was made possible through the invaluable assistance of the Iloilo City Fire Station – Community Relations Unit and the Bureau of Fire Protection – Tagbac Fire Sub-Station, who shared their expertise in ensuring proper emergency preparedness and response.

Through this initiative, BPI-NSQCS Region 6 reaffirms its commitment to workplace safety, preparedness, and resilience in the face of potential fire and other emergencies.

In celebration of National Women’s Month 2026, with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society – Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, the Bureau of Plant Industry – National Seed Quality Control Services Region 6 conducted an informative session on March 23, 2026.

We were honored to have PCAPT Mavin R. Laraño from Iloilo City Police Station 3 as our resource speaker, who discussed Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. The session aimed to raise awareness on women’s rights, promote gender sensitivity, and empower individuals to stand against all forms of violence.

Through this initiative, BPI-NSQCS Region 6 strengthens its commitment to building a safe, inclusive, and empowered community for all.

𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬: The Bureau of Plant Industry- National Seed Quality Control Services- Region VI will adopt a 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 (𝗪𝗙𝗛) 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 on 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, pursuant to the Memorandum Circular No. 114 from the Office of the President of the Philippines regarding energy conservation protocols and the transition to a four-day onsite work arrangement. Refresher Course on In**ed Rice Seed Production & Certification for Seed Growers

The DA–Bureau of Plant Industry, through the National Seed Quality Control Services (NSQCS) Region 6, conducted a Refresher Course on In**ed Rice Seed Production and Certification for Seed Growers on November 26–28, 2025 at the BPI-NSQCS R6 Conference Hall, WESVIARC, Hamungaya, Buntatala, Jaro, Iloilo City.

The three-day activity brought together seed growers from across Western Visayas to strengthen their technical understanding of in**ed rice seed production. The refresher course focused on essential topics such as field preparation, crop and pest management, rouging techniques, varietal purity maintenance, and the updated procedures in seed field inspection and certification.

Resource persons provided detailed discussions and practical guidance, emphasizing the importance of adhering to certification standards to ensure the availability of high-quality seeds for farmers in the region. Participants also shared their on-ground experiences, making the sessions more interactive and relevant to real production challenges.

Through this refresher course, seed growers renewed their commitment to producing reliable and high-purity in**ed rice seeds. The activity served as a reminder that continuous learning is vital in sustaining quality seed production and strengthening the rice industry in Western Visayas.

Last November 26, 2025, the DA–Bureau of Plant Industry convened a meaningful stakeholders meeting at Zuri Hotel, Diversion Road, Mandurriao, Iloilo City—a gathering that highlighted the power of collaboration in shaping the future of agriculture in Western Visayas.

Stakeholders from various sectors came together to discuss key concerns, explore opportunities, and align efforts to improve seed systems, crop productivity, and quality standards. The meeting became a space where experiences were shared openly, ideas flowed freely, and collective solutions took shape.
