Feast of Our Lady of Hope of Palo & 12th Yolanda Commemoration

As we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Hope of Palo, we also pause and remember the 12th commemoration of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)—a tragedy that left deep scars in the hearts of many, yet revealed the unshakable faith and resilience of our people.

This is not only a remembrance of loss, but a celebration of hope restored and faith renewed. Under the loving mantle of Our Lady of Hope, we recall how God’s mercy shone even in the darkest days. Through the tears and trials, Mary, our Mother, continues to lead us closer to her Son, reminding us that no storm is stronger than the hope we have in Christ.

Join us in prayer and thanksgiving this November 8, 2025 (Saturday) at St. Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist Parish, Jaro, Leyte for the

🕓 Holy Mass at 4:30 PM and
🚶‍♀️ Solemn Procession at 5:30 PM.

Let us honor Our Lady of Hope of Palo—the beacon of faith and comfort to the faithful of Leyte and beyond—and together, let us pray for those who lost their lives, for the healing of those who survived, and for the strength of our community to continue living with courage, compassion, and hope.

ORATIO IMPERATA
Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to You in gratitude for the wonders of creation of which we are part, for Your providence that sustains us in our needs, and for your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.

We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation. We have not been good stewards of nature. We have confused Your command to subdue the earth.

The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoings and now we reap the harvest of our abuse & indifference. Global warming is upon us. Typhoons, floods, volcanic eruption and other calamities occur in increasing number & intensity.

We turn to You our loving Father and beg forgiveness for our sins. We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard-earned possessions be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made. We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of Your creation and generous neighbors to those in need.
Amen.

PRAYER OF OUR LADY OF HOPE OF PALO
We cry unto you,
O holy Mother of God, our Lady of hope
full of confidence, both in times of joy and triumph
and of desolation and fear.
Show unto us the fruit of your womb, Jesus:
our light in the midst of darkness,
our strength in times of weakness,
our cure in times of sickness,
our hope in times of defeat.
Teach us to gaze upon the eyes of your Son
to embrace him and to bear his cross.
O Mary, our mother, mercifully listen to our prayers
and lead us always to the one Hope,
Jesus, your beloved Son, Our Lord.
Amen.

ON THIS DAY: Back in July 12, 2016, the Philippines scored a victory against China in a landmark ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration that invalidated Beijing’s massive claims in the South China Sea.
