The Committee on Agriculture, chaired by Hon. Dick L. Palangan, along with fellow council members, successfully conducted a public hearing yesterday regarding two vital proposed measures: The implementation of management measures and harvest control rules consistent with the Fisheries Management Area (FMA) - 9 Plan for both Sardines and Siganids.
The session was further enriched by representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), who provided valuable clarity, addressed key concerns, and addressed inquiries from local citizens regarding lawful and sustainable fishing practices. The open dialogue ensured a shared understanding among community members, making the hearing a resounding success.
We extend our sincere gratitude to BFAR, the Punong Barangays of coastal communities, department heads and their representatives, DILG, MENRO, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bantay Dagat, and all present stakeholders for their active participation and unwavering support in protecting our marine resources.

A newly turned over van for the Mayor’s Office was officially blessed today, marking another milestone in strengthening our service to the people of Jimenez.
For eight years, the previous service vehicle faithfully served the municipality and continues to remain operational to this day. This reflects the value of proper care, responsibility, and commitment in public service.
The story behind this moment is a reminder of continuity and progress. Eight years ago, when Mayor Joselito “Jojo” C. Chiong was still serving as Vice Mayor, the municipality already had a service vehicle. Today, we move forward with a new one, symbolizing growth while honoring the past.
This new vehicle will continue to support efficient delivery of services and strengthen the mobility of the Mayor’s Office in serving every Jimeneznon.

The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. X awarded a Plaque of Recognition to PESO-LGU Jimenez, Misamis Occidental under the 2nd–3rd Class Municipality Category as the 2025 Search for Best PESO Regional Winner.
This recognition covers the reckoning period of January 2025 to December 2025 and highlights the office’s excellent performance in implementing core labor and employment programs and services.
PESO-LGU Jimenez, under the leadership of Arnulfo Guimalan Jr., PESO Manager, has successfully ensured the prompt, efficient, and accessible delivery of employment facilitation services to every Filipino at the local level.
The award was conferred on August 12, 2026 in Cagayan de Oro City.

The Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Program was successfully conducted in Jimenez Gymnasium to help vulnerable and low income households cope with continuing economic challenges.
The first batch benefited 1,359 residents from Jimenez and Panaon, who received ₱2,000 per month until December and five kilos of rice from the Provincial Government.
The activity was conducted together with our Governor Atty. Henry S. Oaminal, Board Members Hon. Donna R. Iyog, Hon. Haneya Theresa Yap-Chiong, Hon. Agnes C. Villanueva, Hon. Alejandro J. Guantero Jr., and Hon. Winston V. Catane, Mayor of Panaon Hon. Francisco T. Paylaga Jr., Vice Mayor Hon. Jim R. De Los Santos, Sangguniang Bayan Members, DSWD personnel, Ma’am Kriz Haniegenn C. On August 1, the Opening Ceremony of the Asenso Jimenez Municipal Athletic Association (AJIMAA) Jimenez Municipal Meet 2026 was successfully held at Jimenez Central School.
The event marked the beginning of a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and youth excellence, bringing together student athletes from across the municipality who showcased their talents, discipline, and teamwork.
More than just competition, AJIMAA highlighted the importance of character building, camaraderie, and the spirit of fair play among our young athletes.
