L O O K| Teachers Reach Out Amid Class Suspensions

For the past two weeks, since August 3, 2026, our teachers have been going around boarding houses and homes of our learners to help them complete their school requirements in modular learning.

This was in response to the continuous class suspensions caused by Tropical Depression Luis on August 3, followed by Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced Hanging Habagat/Southwest Monsoon which brought heavy rains from August 5 to August 10, 2026.

Despite the challenges, our teachers remain committed. They visited students one by one for "kumustahan", to lightly follow-up integrative self-learning printed modules, clarify lessons, collect outputs, and give learning support, ensuring that no learner is left behind.

To our dear teachers: Maraming salamat sa malasakit at sakripisyo!
To our learners and parents: Thank you for your cooperation. Tuloy ang pagkatuto kahit may bagyo.

#π–π€π‹π€ππ†ππ€π’πŽπŠ | Governor Dr. Melchor D. Diclas, through Executive Order No. 2026-60, has ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes from PRESCHOOL TO SENIOR HIGHSCHOOL (both public and private institutions) throughout the Province of Benguet on Wednesday, AUGUST 12, 2026.

The suspension will provide educational institutions with sufficient time to assess the condition of their respective areas, recover from the impacts of the week-long rainfall, clean and restore school facilities, and ensure a safe environment for the resumption of classes. This is also in consideration of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which may still bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms across the province.

Schools are encouraged to implement appropriate alternative learning modalities and other learning continuity measures, as may be feasible, to ensure that learning activities continue while face-to-face classes are suspended.

TLNHS x RHU Partnership: REDCOP Implementation and Disaster Preparedness Activities

Another successful partnership activity was carried out at Tawangan-Lusod NHS with the implementation of REDCOP for all students.

REDCOP, or Renal Disease Control Program, is a public health initiative by the Department of Health (DOH) in the Philippines dedicated to the prevention, early detection, and management of kidney diseases. Through urine testing and health education, REDCOP helps identify early signs of kidney problems so learners can receive proper care and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Under the leadership of Hon. Rex Alwin Aquisan, RHU personnel headed by Dr. Felix Mangaltag, Jr., MHSO, once again proved that remote schools will not be left behind in the healthcare system.

With the initiative of the school, under the leadership of Mr. Jomar G. Lesino, and as part of the Nutrition Program and Project S.H.I.E.L.D., urine testing was conducted for all learners.
The activity was implemented by RHM Judith Molitas, Nurse Dariel Luciap, Nurse Phrany Mae G. Abellera, Nurse Candee A. CariΓ±o, and Nurse Ghenry Heart L. Sangao, assisted by the BNS of Tawangan, Ms Fatima Bugtong.

Meanwhile, after class dismissal, the Earthquake Drill Competition was conducted. This activity is essential in strengthening disaster preparedness. It trains learners and personnel to respond quickly, properly execute "Duck, Cover, and Hold," and evacuate in an organized and calm manner. It builds discipline, teamwork, and confidence so that in a real emergency, lives can be protected.

In preparation for the NDR Rescue Olympics, learners also attended an orientation on the event schedule, followed by training on bandaging, facilitated by Ms. Shelanie Luciap, SDRRM Coordinator. This equips them with basic first aid skills needed during disasters and emergencies, empowering them to respond and assist others.

TLNHS extends its gratitude to our RHU partners, teachers, and learners for prioritizing health, safety, and resilience.
