The Municipal Government of Kibawe, Bukidnon successfully underwent the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) 2026 on April 8, 2026, at the BAC Office in Kibawe, confirming its strong commitment to local nutrition governance. The evaluation reviewed how effectively the municipality implemented its nutrition programs in 2025, ensuring that initiatives aimed at addressing malnutrition and promoting healthy communities are reaching mothers, children, and families.
The activity was conducted by the Provincial Nutrition Evaluation Team headed by Reyno C. Sevilla, RN, with representatives from Bukidnon government agencies and offices. Members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee of LGU Kibawe also actively participated, led by Municipal Mayor Reynaldo โJimboyโ Ang Rabanes and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Josie Busig, RSW.
As part of the assessment, the team evaluated the performance of key Local Nutrition Focal Points, including the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer and Barangay Nutrition Scholar from West Kibawe, Ms. Paz Barcon.
The evaluation included a comprehensive desk review of reports and supporting documents, followed by site visits to selected community facilities such as school gardens, bakeries, food establishments, and safe spaces for mothers and children. These visits verified the municipalityโs compliance with national nutrition and health policies, including Executive Order 51 (Milk Code) supporting breastfeeding, the ASIN Law promoting iodized salt use, and the Mandatory Food Fortification Law, which requires the addition of essential vitamins and minerals to staple foods such as rice, flour, oil, and sugar.
An exit conference and feedback session were conducted after the review and field visits, where the evaluation team shared their observations, commendations, and recommendations with local officials and stakeholders.
Nutrition remains a cornerstone of community development.
The results of this yearโs MELLPI Pro evaluation will further guide the strengthening of nutrition programs in Kibawe, helping ensure sustained support for feeding initiatives, maternal and child health services, community gardens, and other barangay-level interventions. Through consistent commitment and collaboration, Kibawe continues to place the health and future of its people at the forefront of local governance.
