ANTIPAS, COTABATO PROVINCE โ In a joint effort to assess and highlight the transformative impact of community infrastructure, a Project Documentation activity was recently conducted at Purok 3, Barangay Luhong, Antipas, Cotabato Province. Organized in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region XII, the documentation focused on the newly completed 440-meter Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) project. Funded under the Support to the Barangay Development Program - Unappropriated (SBDP-UA) 2024 with a budget allocation of Php 5,000,000, the vital infrastructure project is set to directly benefit around 1,000 residents and local agricultural workers.
For years, local farmers in Barangay Luhong faced significant challenges in transporting their agricultural produce to neighboring markets due to unpaved and difficult road conditions. The newly completed 440-meter concrete road addresses these long-standing transport bottlenecks, ensuring safe, faster, and more cost-effective transit for crops and essential goods. By reducing transit times and lowering hauling costs, the project aims to boost farm gate prices, increase local economic activity, and significantly enhance the daily livelihoods of families in the community.
The project documentation activity evaluated how the new road enhanced community well-being. Barangay officials and local beneficiaries shared first-hand accounts alongside representatives from the DILG-PDMU Cotabato Field Office, LGU Antipas Engineering, MLGOO Ms. Helen Grace A. De Justo-Sayon, and PIA XIIโs Mr. Christian Matullano. Through interviews and site visits, the joint team captured inspiring stories of progress and uplifted agricultural livelihoods.
Through site visits, visual assessments, and personal interviews, theyโve captured inspiring stories of resilience and progress from community members whose daily routines and livelihoods have been uplifted by the new road. A Shared Vision for Sustainable Development. The successful completion and documentation of the Purok 3 Farm-to-Market Road demonstrate the power of collaborative governance under the SBDP framework. By bridging rural communities with market hubs, local government units and national agency partners continue to ensure that peace, development, and economic opportunity reach every corner of Cotabato Province.
