BP2 beneficiaries start a new life in North Cotabato

Libungan, North Cotabato | A family of four (4) migrated back to town this January after Wenifredo Carcueva, the father lost his job due to retrenchment.

This happened during the peak of covid-19 pandemic.

“I felt useless as a father that I failed my family. I cannot provide for their needs that time since I don’t have a job, it was hopeless” expressed Carcueva.

Additional burden to their situation was when their house got demolished by the Local Government Unit of Davao City when they found out that the family was residing near a coastal area.

“When we bought the house lot they told us that we can stay and build a house over there. Unfortunately, years after they instructed us to vacate the area. We were left with no choice but to go back to the province” he added.

After 20 years in Davao City they went back to town and immediately applied at MSWDO Libungan for assistance. He was one of the two (2) qualified beneficiaries who received ₱40k transitory family support package from DSWD’s Balik Probinsya Bagong Pagasa (BP2) program.

Along side Carcueva is Joel Recones who also received ₱40k cash grant today from BP2.

He stayed for nine (9) years in Metro Manila and one (1) year in Occidental Mindoro where he worked in a construction firm.

“I lost my job during pandemic, my wife has also no job that’s why we decided to go back here in Libungan” exclaimed Recones.

These 2 are the first BP2 beneficiaries in town and they are expecting to received their livelihood assistance grant and housing assistance grant this year.

Poultry worker shed tears after claiming DSWD assistance

Pikit, North Cotabato | A father of one and a former Overseas Filipino Worker in Saudi Arabia received ₱40k cash assistance intended for transitory family support package from DSWD’s Balik Probinsya Bagong Pagasa (BP2) program today, September 14.

“I can’t believe that after our struggle in Saudi Arabia during the pandemic, we will receive a blessing from the Philippine government”.

Jaysol Regana worked for 6 years in Saudi as a poultry worker. According to Regana, he received atleast ₱25k monthly salary or more depending on the demands of chicken per month.

Unfortunately, when covid-19 pandemic hit he became one of the retrenched employees.

“I lost my job during pandemic since my employer needed to recover their loses, they shutdown some of their factories” stressed Regana.

He just recently flew back in the country this year together with his family. According to Regana the amount received from BP2 will help them start anew.

He added “I am very much thankful to DSWD XII and to everyone who reached us and assisted me to avail this cash grant from BP2”.

Aside from Regana there were eleven (11) more beneficiaries who received ₱40k each for transitory family support package today in town.

The BP2 is the national program of the government towards a balanced regional development. This phase addresses the needs of the individuals and families who are willing to go back to their home province ‘right now’.

However, in light of the ‘Hatid Tulong’ program for the locally stranded individuals (LSI), the national government has temporarily suspended the program to focus on assisting the LSIs and overseas Filipinos.
