KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 12 generated P32.5 million in sales during its Treasures of Region 12: BLENDS trade fair held at Abreeza Malls, Davao City.

The three‑day event, which culminated on September 17 and showcased products from four priority commodities - coffee, cacao, coconut, and cardava banana - was supported under the RAPID Growth Project.

Sixty budding enterprises from Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and South Cotabato participated in the fair.

DTI‑12 also facilitated business pitching and market matching for 16 assisted enterprises, resulting in P840,000 in booked sales with seven potential buyers.

Now on its fifth installment, the trade fair was staged in Davao City for the first time.

Regional Director Flora Politud‑Gabunales said the move from General Santos City to Davao was a strategic decision to expand market reach and partnerships.

“This reflects our determination to bring the Treasures of Region 12: BLENDS to new markets and new possibilities. After all, Davao City proudly carries the slogan, ‘Life is Here,’” she said.

As a side event, DTI‑12 organized a financial partnership and linkaging session between agri‑enterprises and financial institutions, resulting in initial financing consultations worth P36.22 million.

Politud‑Gabunales emphasized that BLENDS is more than a trade fair. “Aside from showcasing products, BLENDS features FinConnect to link MSMEs with banks and financial institutions; sessions on emerging trends and future prospects; business pitching and market matching; and competitions that highlight creativity and youth engagement through video advertising and role‑playing,” she said.

The RAPID Growth Project, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), is a market‑driven initiative of DTI that aims to sustainably increase the income of smallholder farmers by strengthening rural value chains and promoting agro‑enterprise partnerships among industry stakeholders.- END
