LOOK | The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 12 has officially opened the first SOX Wellness Tourism Summit on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Buda Vista Garden Resort in Arakan, Cotabato Province.
Hosted by the local government unit (LGU) of Arakan, the event positions the Soccsksargen region as a premier destination for travelers seeking holistic well-being and rejuvenating travel experiences.
DOT 12 Regional Director Nelia Arina spearheaded the opening ceremony, joined by Arakan Mayor Jeam Villasor, Antipas Mayor Cristobal Cadungon, Cotabato 3rd District Board Member Ivy Martia Lei Dalumpines- Ballitoc, and key tourism stakeholders.
One of the highlight of the activity was the exhibit featuring the region's top wellness providers.
Beyond promoting health and wellness, the summit serves as a strategic platform to boost the local economy and elevate Region 12's competitive edge.
By putting the spotlight on Arakan and the wider Soccsksargen area, the initiative creates livelihood opportunities for local communities, and promotes strong partnerships between local wellness entrepreneurs and various tourism operators.

Pinagtibay ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Tanaka Akihiko ang mas pinalawak na kooperasyon ng Pilipinas at Japan sa imprastraktura, kalusugan, climate change, at mga programang pangkaunlaran sa Mindanao sa isinagawang pulong sa Tokyo sa gitna ng State Visit ng Pangulo sa Japan.
Tinalakay ng dalawang panig ang mga proyekto sa railway systems, kalsada at tulay, disaster risk management, at suporta sa Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), kabilang ang pagbili ng patrol vessels at pagpapaunlad ng PCG base sa Subic.
