| The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office XII, through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division, conducted the Farmers and Fisherfolks’ Fair 2024 on May 23, 2024, in Koronadal City.

This activity showcases the diverse and high-quality agricultural products from the region's dedicated farmers and fisherfolk. It also aims to provide them with a platform to connect with potential buyers, thereby expanding their market reach and boosting their profits.

In his opening message, Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office XII Regional Executive Director Roberto T. Perales emphasized the significant contributions of farmers and fisherfolk to the nation’s food security and economic growth. “Let us remember the crucial role that our farmers and fisherfolk play in ensuring food security and fostering economic growth. Their relentless dedication and perseverance are vital to our nation’s progress, and it is our collective responsibility to support and uplift them,” he stated.

The Organic Agriculture Program also awarded the Plaque of Recognition to PALAI Inc. during the opening ceremony.

The fair will run until May 25, 2024, at the Mall of Ace Centerpoint, Koronadal City, offering attendees further opportunities to explore and support local agriculture.

| The Department of Agriculture RFO 12 conducted an Agricultural and Fishery Council (AFC) Day as part of the celebration of this year’s Farmers' and Fisherfolk's Month Celebration. The Agricultural and Fishery Council coming from the different municipalities and provinces of SOCCSKSARGEN joined the said activity today, May 15, 2024.

A Holy Mass jump started the event in commemoration of the Feast of St. Isidore the Laborer, the patronal saint of the farmers, which was presided by Rev. Fr. Salvador D. Leyso.

This was attended by the DA 12 personnel and officials of the Agricultural and Fishery Council (AFC) coming from the different provinces and municipalities in SOCCSKSARGEN as giving tribute to the late saint who was known of his piety toward poor and animals.

AFCs in attendance enjoyed the trivia games and AFC Day Singing contest participated by farmers coming from the respective municipalities.

The celebration aims to recognize the invaluable contributions of our farmers and fisherfolk in nation building and in the achievement of food security in the country.

Happening Now: The DA-NUPAP conducts a "Training on Vegetable Production with emphasis on Hydroponics and Containerized Gardening" today, May 14, 2024, at Paraiso Verde Hotel and Resort, Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

The training is attended by the urban dwellers in the region which aims to capacitate them with technical skills and expertise in the production of vegetables through modern methods such as hydroponics and other urban agriculture practices that will help boost productivity and economic sustainability.

The proper discussion and hands-on training are led by Sir Christian Castañeda, owner of the OrganiKian Urban Farm who shares his expertise, insights, and experiences on the techniques of growing vegetables using hydroponics system. Afterwards, the program will conclude with hands-on training on day 2 and the participants will get to experiencce an exclusive tour of the OrganiKian Urban Farm tomorrow, May 15, 2024.

DA-RFO 12 WELCOMES NEW REGIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Department of Agriculture 12 welcomes Regional Executive Director Roberto “Toto” T. Perales as the newly appointed RED of DA-RFO 12 in a simple turnover ceremony today, April 22, 2024.

“Our goal is not just to change perceptional and deliver real measurable progress that will impact the lives of our farmers. We are here to work, to grow, and to succeed together,” RED Perales said as he undertakes the new leadership.

Outgoing OIC-RED Dr. John B. Pascual encouraged the DA personnel to give their all-out support to the new administration in extending service for the farmers and fisherfolk of the region.

Dr. John B. Pascual, is the newly designated OIC-Regional Technical Director for Operations, handed over the key of responsibility to the newly appointed RED.

The turnover ceremony was also attended by the members of the Regional Management Committee (RMC), state universities and colleges (SUCs), media personnel, other guests and family and friends of RED Perales.
