To Save Lives and Properties The Malta Cross means that the firefighter who wears this cross is willing to lay down his life.
The new logo of the Bureau of Fire Protection Region XII features the primary products and landmark of SOCCSKSARGEN, firefighting tools and equipment, Malta cross, shield, stars and two branches of laurel leaves. Its center, the badge attributes the primary products and landmark of the 4 provinces and one highly urbanized city of the region, namely, Mt. Matutum for South Cotabato Province, the Swo
rds and Half-Moon for Cotabato Province, Tuna for Sarangani Province, Palm Tree for Sultan Kudarat Province and the Statue of General Paulino Santos - one of the settlers who came to General Santos City and formerly called as “Dadiangas”. Just as the crusaders sacrificed their lives for their fellow men many years ago. The shield, colored with white, blue and red signifies the Philippine National Flag and the patriotism of the BFP in service and honor to the country. It represents protection against harm and a firefighter’s defense in combating fire. The orange color symbolizes eagerness to serve the country and alertness as it helps on prevention and suppression of fire and other emergencies. The primary firefighting tools and equipment of the BFP embedded on each part of the Malta Cross are the helmet, hydrant, axe and ladder. Which symbolize protection; a badge of honor, courage and pride, the embodiment of principles of Fire Service in Saving Lives and Properties and extinguishment of destructive fires. The two branches of Laurel Leaves symbolizes the 45 municipalities, while the nine stars above the shield act for the four provinces, 4 cities and the Regional Office. In a modern fire and rescue service, fighting fires is only part of the role, greater emphasis is placed within the community. From disaster preparedness, to medical response, and serving as educator. Firefighters do a lot of behind-the-scenes work to keep our community safe for “we are called not be served but to serve”. A logo is much more than just an image; it reveals the identity, camaraderie, enthusiasm and the passion of the BFP to serve the country.
