𝐅𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐄𝐃𝐆𝐀𝐑 𝐖 𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐍, 𝐃𝐒𝐂 Acting Regional Director of the Bureau of Fire Protection Region 12, together with the BFP 12 Key Officers, participated via Zoom in the BFP National Headquarters (NHQ) Command Conference held on October 6, 2026, at the BFP National Headquarters.⁣

The command conference was attended by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐉𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐂. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐚, along with DILG Undersecretary for Public Safety 𝐉𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐄. 𝐌𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐠, DILG Assistant Secretary for Public Safety 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐅. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐧 and BFP officials.⁣

The conference focused on strengthening the operational capabilities of the Bureau and ensuring organizational readiness in addressing the anticipated impacts of the El Niño phenomenon.⁣

During the conference, the BFP presented its agency accomplishments, highlighting the Bureau's continuing efforts in fire prevention, suppression, emergency response, and public safety. A significant portion of the conference focused on El Niño readiness, with the BFP outlining its response strategy to mitigate the heightened risk of fires associated with prolonged hot and dry conditions. The strategy emphasizes strengthened fire prevention measures, operational preparedness, resource readiness, public awareness, and close coordination with local government units and other partner agencies.⁣

For BFP Region 12, participation in the command conference serves as an opportunity to align regional operations with the directives and priorities of the BFP National Headquarters, particularly in strengthening preparedness and ensuring a prompt and effective response to fire incidents during periods of increased fire risk.⁣
