1ST NEGROS ISLAND REGION DRRM CARAVAN

The Supreme Student Council (SSC) of La Carlota City College participated in the 1st Negros Island Region Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Caravan, held on October 29, 2026 at the Activity Center of La Carlota City College Main Campus.

With the theme “Youth Resilience in Action: Understanding Hazards, Navigating Information, and Taking Action,” the activity highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness, responsible use of information, and active youth participation in building safer and more resilient communities.

Through discussions on disaster risk reduction and management, cybersecurity, volcanic hazards and emergency response, the participants gained valuable knowledge on how to prepare for disasters, respond appropriately and take proactive measures to protect themselves and others.

As young individuals, we are reminded that preparedness begins with awareness, resilience grows through knowledge and meaningful change starts with action.

Legal Basis: Republic Act No. 10121— Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, which provides the legal framework for strengthening disaster preparedness, prevention, mitigation, response and recovery in the Philippines.
