3RD DAY – PCG OJT TRAINING

📍 Site Visit at NTC Region VI
The participants of the Coast Guard Radio Operation and Maintenance Specialization Course (CGROMSC) Class 27-2026 conducted a site visit at the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Region VI.
The activity included a short orientation on Scam and Spam Online, focusing on online safety, awareness, and responsible use of telecommunications and digital platforms.

The participants were also introduced to the IC Integrator, gaining valuable knowledge on its functions and application in communication and coordination.
A meaningful and informative learning experience that strengthens our knowledge, skills, and awareness in radio communications and telecommunications operations.

SITE VALIDATION OF DYNASLOPE-IDENTIFIED LANDSLIDE-PRONE AREA | BARANGAY INABASAN, MAASIN, ILOILO

The Provincial Government of Iloilo through the Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (OPDRRMO) conducted a site validation of a DYNASLOPE-identified landslide-prone area in Barangay Inabasan, Maasin, Iloilo on October 7, 2026.

Led by PCol. Cornelio R. Salinas, PGDH, the team carried out ground assessment, drone mapping, and field documentation to validate site conditions and gather critical data for landslide risk assessment. The activity included coordination with local residents and stakeholders to obtain information on existing conditions and potential hazards within the area.

Strengthening Coordination for CAAP Iloilo’s SIMEX

PDRRMO Iloilo joined CAAP Iloilo, participating MDRRMOs, ICAG Volunteer Fire Brigade, and Federation Fire on October 5, 2026, for a coordination meeting in support of CAAP Iloilo’s Full-Scale Emergency Simulation Exercise at Iloilo International Airport.

Discussions focused on rescue operations, medical response, triage, and communications to strengthen interagency preparedness

Goodbye, Habagat!

A gradual shift in the prevailing weather pattern has been observed over the past several days, such as the strengthening high pressure system over East Asia, the southward-migrating Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and the notable weakening of winds and a decrease in rainfall associated with the Southwest Monsoon.

Forecasts indicate that these conditions are expected to persist in the coming days. In view of this, the Habagat season has officially ended. This also marks the termination of the rainy season over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas.
