July is MSMEs Month!
The Local Economic and Investment Promotions Office (LEIPO) of the Municipality of Lake Sebu proudly joins the nationwide observance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Month, celebrating the invaluable contributions of our local entrepreneurs, community enterprises, cooperatives, Indigenous Peoples (IP) organizations, and business owners who continue to drive inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economic growth.
The Municipality of Lake Sebu, under the leadership of Hon. Antonio G. Fungan, Jr., Municipal Mayor, remains steadfast in supporting the growth and development of MSMEs. Through policies, programs, and strategic initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, investment, tourism, agriculture, and Indigenous community enterprises, the local government continues to create an enabling environment where businesses can thrive, generate employment, and contribute to the municipality's long-term economic prosperity.
MSMEs are the lifeblood of Lake Sebu's local economy. They create jobs, stimulate innovation, generate investments, and transform local resources into products and services that reflect the identity and pride of our community. From our world-renowned T'nalak weaving, Indigenous handicrafts, specialty coffee, cacao, tilapia, and lotus-based products to tourism enterprises, homestays, resorts, restaurants, transport services, tour operators, and other homegrown businesses, every enterprise contributes to building a vibrant and competitive local economy.
As Lake Sebu continues to emerge as a premier destination for ecotourism, cultural heritage, agriculture, and sustainable investments, LEIPO remains committed to advancing local economic development through investment promotion, enterprise development, business facilitation, market linkages, innovation, capacity-building, and strategic partnerships. These efforts aim to empower entrepreneurs, strengthen local industries, and attract responsible investments that benefit the entire community.
This MSMEs Month, let us all become champions of local enterprise. Every locally made product we purchase, every local service we choose, and every community business we support helps preserve livelihoods, strengthen Indigenous and rural economies, encourage innovation, and create more opportunities for every Tau S'bu.
Together, let us build a more competitive, resilient, and investment-ready Lake Sebuโwhere culture, enterprise, tourism, and sustainable development work hand in hand toward shared prosperity.
This observance is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 697, s. 1991, declaring the month of July as Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Month, and Republic Act No. 9501, otherwise known as the Magna Carta for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which recognizes MSMEs as vital drivers of economic growth, employment generation, innovation, and inclusive local development.
Together with Hon. Antonio G. Fungan, Jr., the Sangguniang Bayan, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the business sector, development partners, and our local entrepreneurs, the Municipality of Lake Sebu remains committed to building a resilient, inclusive, and investment-friendly economy where every MSME has the opportunity to grow and succeed."
