The Department of Science and Technology – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR), through DOST Ifugao, has officially welcomed Pedros Pizza Hauz of Lagawe, Ifugao in its Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) project list for the 2026 funding after the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement today at DOST Ifugao office, Nayon, Lamut, Ifugao.

Owned and managed by Ms. Christina S. Bunoy, Pedros Pizza Hauz sought the SETUP assistance for the acquisition of new and upgraded equipment for its commissary and service areas located in Poblacion North, Lagawe, Ifugao. The firm specializes in snacks and meals with the touch of Ifugao local cuisine, such as pinunnog pizza.

Ms. Bunoy was joined by Engr. Max Bernard M. Codamon, Provincial S&T Director and Chief SRS of DOST Ifugao, during the MOA signing. PD Codamon represented DOST-CAR and also served as one of the signatories. The MOA signing was observed by the firm’s witnesses and other DOST Ifugao staff.

On August 13, 2026, the Department of Science and Technology – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR), through its Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) – Ifugao, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, delivered a 3D printer, robotics kits, and Virtual Reality (VR) glasses to Santa Maria National High School. Meanwhile, a STARBOOKS Digital Library and Smart TV were delivered to the ALS Alfonso Lista Community Learning Center.

The activity forms part of the project “Ushering Alfonso Lista, Ifugao to be a Smart and Sustainable Community through the Integration of Smart Agriculture Technologies and 21st Century Learning and Innovation Hubs,” implemented under the Smart and Sustainable Communities Program (SSCP), particularly its Smart People component.

These technologies are tools for innovation, discovery, and inclusive learning, providing students and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners with opportunities to engage with emerging technologies and access interactive and technology-enabled educational resources.

Through this initiative, DOST-CAR, DepEd-Ifugao, and the LGU of Alfonso Lista continue to bring science, technology, and innovation closer to learners, fostering creativity, critical thinking, digital literacy, and problem-solving skills.

Please be informed that DOST-CAR and its Provincial Science and Technology Offices (PSTOs) will observe the regular 8-hour work schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on August 17–20, 2026, pursuant to DOST Administrative Order No. 005-A, Series of 2026.

This adjustment is in view of the declaration of August 21, 2026 (Friday) as a regular holiday in observance of Ninoy Aquino Day.

The 10-hour Compressed Workweek (CWW) arrangement will resume the following week, provided that no holiday falls on a Friday.

Yesterday, August 4, 2026, the Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO)-Ifugao was honored by the visit of Hon. Jerry U. Dalipog, Governor of the Province of Ifugao.

During the courtesy meeting with PSTD Engr. Max Bernard M. Codamon, discussions focused on the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and its role in further enhancing the competitiveness and productivity of businesses and MSMEs in Ifugao.

The meeting also covered the upcoming DOST–National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) Project Monitoring Activity, which will be conducted next week in collaboration with DOST-CAR. The activity aims to assess the implementation and progress of the Soybean, Cacao, and Feed Mill Support Project under the Local Grants-in-Aid (LGIA) Special Project for the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU)-Ifugao, identify opportunities for improvement, and further strengthen project implementation for the benefit of local communities.

PSTO-Ifugao expresses its sincere appreciation to Governor Dalipog for his continued support of science, technology, and innovation initiatives in the province. Through the strengthened partnership between DOST and the Provincial Government of Ifugao, we remain committed to advancing inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-driven development for the people of Ifugao.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Ifugao, led by Provincial Science and Technology Director Engr. Max Bernard M. Codamon, visited the Office of the University President of Ifugao State University this afternoon for a courtesy call. They were welcomed by the 3rd University President, Dr. Freddie B. Caday.

DOST Ifugao aims to introduce DOST programs, projects, and activities that IFSU may explore in partnership with the office. DOST Ifugao also discussed building IFSU’s innovation ecosystem through an established and strong partnership between the two institutions. The Innovation Hub (iHub) DOST Ifugao was also promoted to attract possible start-ups that may need assistance in the ideation process.

DOST Ifugao and IFSU already have existing projects together, such as the Metals Engineering and Innovation Center (MEIC), Complementary Food Processing (CFP), and the IFSU Hapao Ice Cream Project. During the meeting, they also discussed the possibility of conducting studies focused on the development of products from giant bamboo, which is already being planted at the Potia (Alfonso Lista) Campus. However, Pres. Caday raised concerns regarding funding, which will only last until December 2026, and the continuity of the project for 2027 remains uncertain. PD Codamon assured Pres. Caday that DOST Ifugao is very much interested in this endeavor and that the office fully supports it.

In relation to funding, the possibility of entering into a tripartite Memorandum of Agreement was also mentioned. With the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between IFSU and the Department of Trade and Industry–CAR (DTI-CAR), the possibility of establishing a provincial-level MOU among the two agencies and DOST Ifugao is also being considered.

This is the first meeting between DOST Ifugao and IFSU since the change in administration. The office looks forward to fostering stronger partnerships and exploring more collaborations with IFSU in the field of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
