Lamut Tourism Week's Gastronomic Showcase Crowns Its Champions!
The heat was definitely on at the Lamut Municipal Gymnasium on September 30, 2026, as six groups stepped up to the ultimate cooking challenge. As a highlight of the Lamut Tourism Week Celebration, this high-stakes competition put our local culinary talents to the test, staying true to the very meaning of "Lamut" which is “Food”.
Before firing up the stoves, each group of 2–3 members faced a thrilling twist: they were given exactly 1 hour and ₱5,000 cash each to race through the Lamut Public Market and source all their fresh ingredients.
Participants had to craft a full three-course meal showcasing Lamut’s rich agricultural produce, following strict and exciting rules:
* Appetizer (Fruits & Vegetables): Strictly featuring fresh produce grown right here in Lamut.
* Main Course (Tilapia): Showcasing local tilapia as the star ingredient of the plate.
* Dessert (Corn): Incorporating only fresh corn. No canned or preserved ingredients allowed!
Every dish was rigorously evaluated based on a strict 100-point system:
* Taste & Profile (40%): Flavor, aroma, and overall taste.
* Plating & Presentation (25%): Visual impact, neatness, and edible garnishes.
* Concept & Originality (25%): Innovative twists and unique culinary style.
* Hygiene & Technique (10%): Kitchen knowledge and clean preparation.
The pressure was intense, especially with a distinguished panel of three locally and internationally renowned chefs scoring every bite.
After a rigorous evaluation, the judges declared the winners as follows,
CHAMPION: Group 6 with cash Prize of ₱20,000
Members: Ria Loreen Nalula, Anniesher Malingan, & Novelyn Mallari
1st Runner-Up: Group 1 with cash Prize of ₱15,000
