TODAY IN HISTORY:

Colegio de Sta Teresita, a private Catholic Institution of learning was established in 1946. The project was a brainchild of three enthusiastic Civic-spirited citizens, Dr. Gregorio B. Tan, Dr. Romulo L. Giray and their friend Dr. Oro Zuniga, who hail from Gubat, Sorsogon. Spearheaded by Rev. Fr. Agripino S. Osal, Dr. Tan led the group who made representations before Msgr. Miguel Acevedo, D.D. and the bishop of the Diocese of Calbayog, whose favorable endorsement persuaded the Augustinian Recollect Sisters to put and merge a secondary School. Thus, Colegio de Sta. Teresita came in a reality.

The first group of sisters that pioneered the task of organizing the school, sent by the Superior General of the Congregation, very Rev. Carmen Alba, and AR was composed of Sor. Cecilia Salzado, AR as head, and Sor. Dolores Caneda, AR, Sor. Consolacion Salamanca, AR and Sor. Agustin Salcedo, AR.

During the first year of it's foundation an encouraging member of 476 students enrolled in the Secondary Department. Mr. Valentin Acebron, who had been the principal in several public schools and a U.S. Scholar was the designated principal. Among the first line-up of faculty were Dr. Gregorio B. Tan, Dr. Romulo L. Giray, Dr. Oro Zuniga, Dr. Jose P. Infante, judge Marciano Chitongco, Atty. Bernardino Muncada, Mr. Jesus Orsolino, Mr. Sergio Noble and Ms. Pansicay Giray.

The school concentration is on Secondary level with it's main thrust "The Catholic Education of Youth" with the implementation of the General Secondary Curriculum, the school has put emphasis on Religious Institution as the basis of Christian Education. The present program of institution is geared towards achieving and maintaining the welfare and well-being of the youth to prepare them for the challenging mission which they, as Christians have to fulfill in an ever- changing society and in the service of God.

🎉 Happy 80th Founding Anniversary!!
