Commander NFC Hands Over Rubber Boats to Strengthen Disaster Response

In a significant step towards improving disaster response readiness, COMMO FLORANTE N GAGUA PN, Commander, Naval Forces Central (NFC) turned over two rubber boats to CAPT HERNANE DC LANES PN(GSC), Commander, Naval Installation and Facilities-Central (NIF-C) in a ceremony held at NFC Headquarters. This initiative highlights the Navy's commitment to enhancing rescue operations in the Visayas region.

The rubber boats will be deployed to Naval Station Alfonso Palencia (NSAP) and Naval Station Dioscoro Papa (NSDP), where they will be utilized for disaster and rescue operations during emergencies. These assets will boost the Navy's ability to respond swiftly to calamities and assist affected communities.

The turnover ceremony featured Disaster Response and Rescue Teams (DRRT) 1 and 2 of NIF-C, who responds to natural disasters, emergencies, and other crises.

Commander, NFC reiterated the Navy's focus on preparedness and resource distribution to key naval stations, emphasizing the importance of being ready to respond to any crisis. Commander, NIF-C expressed gratitude, acknowledging that the boats will be a valuable assets in their operations.

This turnover showcases the Navy’s continued efforts to lead in humanitarian assistance and disaster response, ensuring the safety and protection of both the seas and the communities it serves.

NIF-Central Sets Sail for a Cleaner Future: Coastal Clean-up at Naval Base Rafael Ramos

The Naval Installation and Facilities Central (NIF-Central) recently spearheaded a significant environmental initiative with a coastal clean-up operation at Naval Base Rafael Ramos (NBRR) in Brgy Looc, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Notably, this event coincided with the assumption of command by the Commander, NIF-Central, CAPT HERNANE DC LANES PN(GSC), signaling a fresh chapter of environmental stewardship.

At the break of dawn on 10 May 2024, Officers and Enlisted Personnel convened with a shared purpose: to restore the natural beauty of NBRR and its surroundings. With meticulous attention to detail, Team NIF-Central diligently scoured the area, targeting areas strewn with litter and leaves along the base's roads. Their efforts extended to the preservation of the nearby mangrove ecosystems, recognized for their invaluable ecological role.

Smooth Transition: NIFC Welcomes New Commander in Change of Command Ceremony

Amidst a backdrop of tradition and honor, Naval Installation and Facilities Central (NIF-C) hosted a solemn Change of Command Ceremony at the NIFC Multi-Purpose Hall, located within Naval Base Rafael Ramos in Brgy., Looc, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, on 08 May 2024.

The ceremony, presided over by COMMO CARLOS ANTONIO V SABARRE PN, Commander of Naval Installation Command (CNIC), marked a significant transition in leadership, as the baton of responsibility passed from the Acting Commander, Naval Installation and Facilities Central (ACNIF-C), to the newly installed Commander, NIFC, CAPT HERNANE DC LANES PN(GSC).

In a poignant display of military tradition, CDR GIOVANNI C CANDO PN(GSC) formally relinquished his command to CAPT LANES PN(GSC), signifying the seamless continuity of leadership within NIFC. The ceremony was attended by distinguished Commanding Officers of Tenant units within Naval Base Rafael Ramos, bearing witness to this symbolic transfer of authority.

Acknowledging his exemplary service and dedication, CDR CANDO PN(GSC) was honored with a Military Merit Medal (MMM) by COMMO SABARRE PN, recognizing his significant contributions to the mission of Naval Installation Command (NIC) during his tenure as Acting Commander, NIFC.

In his valedictory address, CDR CANDO PN(GSC) expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Officers, Enlisted Personnel, and Civilian Human Resources of NIFC for their unwavering support throughout his command. Despite facing various challenges, including limitations in assets, equipment, and personnel, NIFC demonstrated exceptional proficiency in fulfilling its mission and executing essential tasks, notably aligning with the overarching objectives of NIC.

COMMO SABARRE PN, in his remarks, lauded the exemplary leadership of CDR CANDO PN(GSC), commending his steadfast commitment to maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of NIFC in providing crucial support to Naval Forces Central.

Brgy. Looc, Lapu-Lapu City – The Commander, Naval Installation Command, Commodore Carlos Antonio Sabarre conducted his official visit to Headquarters, Naval Installation and Facilities – Central on April 18, 2024 in Naval Base Rafael Ramos.

Team NIF-Central led by its Acting Commander, Cdr. Giovanni Cando warmly received the Commander, NIC followed by the guestbook signing then proceeded to a unit briefing via Audio and Video Presentation.

Afterwards, Commo. Sabarre carried out his β€œTalk To Troops”, engaging in a brief dialogue with the personnel of NIF-Central where he relayed his guidance and gave opportunity to address their various concerns.

Team NIF-Central conveyed their utmost gratitude to the Commander, NIC for his visit as well as the opportunity given to them through his Talk To Troops session.
