An homage to the artistry and vibrant cultural heritage of Las Navas, Northern Samar, this national costume reimagines the classic Santa Cruzan silhouette through the timeless craft of banig weaving. ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐๐ถ๐ธ๐ผ๐ด, ๐ฏ๐๐ฟ๐ถ, ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฎ, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐น๐บ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, the ensemble transforms indigenous weaving traditions into a tapestry of color, honoring the skilled banig weavers of Las Navas, whose hands preserve this cherished Filipino craftsmanship across generations.
Drenched in the exuberant hues of a Filipino fiesta, the sculptural gown features cascading golden fringe, vibrant woven panels, and a magnificent sweeping skirt inspired by the grandeur of a Santacruzan procession. A hand-sculpted brass headdress crowns the ensemble, complemented by an abanico crafted from matching woven fibers and embellished with delicate gold rice beads.
More than a celebration of fashion, this creation pays tribute to the weavers whose dedication keeps Las Navasโ cultural heritage alive, honoring the hands, stories, and traditions intricately woven into the communityโs identity.
