(Legazpi City, June 1, 2026) Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan called for stronger food security measures and greater support for farmers and fisherfolk during the Agri Fiesta 2026 celebration in Albay.

Speaking as the guest of honor, Pangilinan emphasized the need to improve the income of farmers and fisherfolk through agricultural modernization, cooperative development, and sustained government assistance.

The senator highlighted the Sagip Saka Act, which allows farmers and fisherfolk to directly market and sell their produce through local government units and partner government agencies.

He said the law aims to expand market opportunities for agricultural producers while helping them obtain fairer prices for their products.

Pangilinan also commended the Provincial Government of Albay for implementing programs that support farmers and align with the objectives of the Sagip Saka Act.

He noted that such initiatives help increase farmers’ income and contribute to the growth of the province’s agricultural sector.

As author of the law, Pangilinan expressed hope that more provinces would adopt similar programs to empower farmers and fisherfolk and strengthen local economic development.

(Legazpi City, June 1, 2026) Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan paid a courtesy visit to Albay Governor Noel E. Rosal at the Albay Capitol on May 28 as part of the province’s celebration of Farmers’ Month and Agri Fiesta 2026.

The visit highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen agricultural development, improve farmers’ welfare, and promote sustainable farming initiatives in Albay.

The Provincial Tourism, Culture and Arts Office extended assistance and support in coordinating the official activity held at the Dignitaries Hall of the Albay Capitol.

Provincial officials said the activity reflected continued collaboration between national and local government leaders in advancing programs that support agricultural growth and long-term development in the province.
