For me, I truly hope that Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. will also take a clear and compassionate stand on the issues surrounding the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
Itโs disheartening to read some of the hateful comments about the program, especially when they come from perspectives that may not fully grasp the realities faced by many Filipino families. In social work, we are taught to see people through a lens of empathy, dignity, and context. Suffering is not a competition. Each sector faces its own struggles, and all deserve understanding.
Like any policy or program, 4Ps is not without its flaws. No law or system is perfect. There are loopholes, implementation challenges, and areas that need improvement. But these shortcomings should invite constructive dialogue and reform, not condemnation of the very people the program seeks to serve.
As social workers we understand that systemic issues are complex. Just as we would never reduce the challenges in education to the efforts of teachers alone, we should also avoid placing blame on beneficiaries for broader structural problems. Social issues require systemic solutions, grounded in compassion, evidence, and shared responsibility.
I hope PASWI officers and members will continue to foster meaningful conversations and uphold our professionโs commitment to social justice, human dignity, and solidarity with the Filipino people. Now, more than ever, we need voices that promote understanding over judgment, and empathy over division.
Just a thought. Hindi kalaban ang mga 4ps Beneficiaries.

Grateful and humbled to be part of this activity, Proud to be a Geriatric Social Worker!
I had the honor of being invited by Barangay Basag, Ligao City as a Resource Speaker for our beloved elderly, sharing about โMental Health and Stress Management in the Golden Years.
Seeing their smiles, listening to their stories, and learning from their wisdom reminded me of one powerful truth: no one should ever be left behind, especially those who once cared for us. Namiss ko ang buhay ko sa Villa Marillac Home for the Elderly ๐ฅน๐
In this season of life, what our elders need most is not just care, but compassion, understanding, and genuine listening. Every story matters. Every feeling is valid. Every culture deserves respect and sensitivity.
Let us continue to build communities where our lolos and lolas feel seen, heard, and valued. Because in caring for them, we honor the past and strengthen the future.
โจ Together, letโs create a world where aging is embraced with dignity, love, and hope.
Thank you, BU FI Students Krishna Espelita and Kapp! Saludo po sainyo and to our Grannies na aktibong nagparticipate!

SCSR Learning Series: Mastering Social Work Terminologies in Documentation
When writing social case study reports, words matter. Using the right terminology ensures clarity, professionalism, and ethical reporting. Hereโs your first tip:
1. Use Descriptive, Not Diagnostic Language
Social workers observe and describe behavior, rather than diagnosing mental health conditionsโunless youโre also a licensed mental health professional. Avoid labels. Stick to neutral, behavioral, and observable terms that accurately reflect what you see and hear.
๐ก Example: Instead of writing โthe child is depressed,โ describe what the child does or expresses, like โthe child frequently isolates themselves and reports feeling sad most days.โ
โ
Why it matters: Accurate, professional language keeps your report credible, protects professional boundaries, and respects the clientโs dignity.
This is part of our ongoing SCSR Learning Series, helping social workers sharpen documentation skills for effective, ethical, and precise reports.

This Social Work Month, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to share my journey and experiences in the field of social work.
Recently, I was interviewed by a HUMSS student from Manila and from Daraga National High School (DNHS) who asked meaningful questions about what social work truly is and how it works in the lives of people and communities. Moments like this remind me that social work profession continues to inspire and grow the next generation.
As a social worker who has served older persons at Villa Marillac Home for the Elderly and Philippine Healthcare Skills Training and Assessment Center, Inc and worked with vulnerable families as a City Link of the DSWD Field Office 5 - Bicol Region Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program , I have witnessed how social work becomes a bridge of hope for those who feel forgotten. Our work is not only about programs and services. It is about listening to peopleโs stories, protecting their dignity, and helping them rediscover hope and possibilities in life.
Last Month February 23, I was also honored to conduct a seminar in my alma mater, sharing my experiences and insights about the realities and importance of geriatric social work. Being able to return to where my journey began and inspire students who may one day serve the same communities was truly meaningful.
And this April 2026, I am humbled to announce another speaking engagement in the same university again and This coming May 2026 this time reaching a national audience. Hihihi ๐
๐
Please stay tuned.
My speaking engagements are never about me. They are about giving voice to those who are often unheard, especially the elderly who have been left behind.
My speaking engagement is not for recognition, but for those elderly who were left behind.
At syempre para sa community level, I am also currently finalizing an activity proposal for our Grannies in Barangay Tagas.
Let us work together to create change.
