DOST-FPRDI joins the 2nd Purple Wednesday of the National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) today, 11 March 2026, with meaningful activities that highlight women’s leadership, gender equality, and Men Opposed to Violence against women Everywhere (MOVE). 💜

Headed by the DOST-FPRDI GAD Focal Point Person Dr. Rico J. Cabangon, GAD Executive Chairperson Fernando C. Pitargue, Jr., GAD–Technical Working Group Chairperson Julius T. Pelegrina, and MOVE Chairperson, Felipe B. Seva Jr., the Institute installed an exhibit featuring the NWMC sub-theme “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!” along with a Commitment Wall for the MOVE campaign.

During the discussion, the GAD-TWG Chairperson highlighted the defining characteristics of the Babaylan—strength, wisdom, and leadership—and how present-day women leaders can embody these qualities to help foster balance and inclusivity within the Institute.

He also emphasized the importance for project leaders and implementers to adopt and apply a gender lens in their work to effectively address gender concerns and imbalances affecting women, particularly in rural and forest-based industries and communities.

Atty. Seva, alongside the MOVE Officers of the DOST-FPRDI Chapter, led FPRDI male employees in signing the Commitment Wall as a pledge of support for the campaign to end violence against women and girls.

Dr. Cabangon also expressed the Institute’s support for women’s empowerment, stating that “the Institute appreciates and supports the advancement of women leaders and will continue to provide opportunities for personal and career growth to women and everyone.”

Through these initiatives, DOST-FPRDI reaffirms its commitment to promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and a safe, inclusive environment for all. 💜
