PNP IMPOUNDS 2 TRUCKS, 115 MOTORCYCLES IN QUEZON OVER SAFETY, REGISTRATION VIOLATIONS; SOME MOTORCYCLES HAD CANNIBALIZED ACCESSORIES
The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Highway Patrol Group (HPG), impounded two trucks carrying a total of 115 motorcycles, including units with incomplete or unavailable supporting documents, during a checkpoint operation in Quezon on Thursday.
The operation stemmed from information received by police personnel regarding trucks allegedly transporting motorcycles without proper documentation from Taguig City toward Mindanao. HPG tracker teams from Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4A and the Laguna and Quezon Provincial Highway Patrol Teams, in coordination with other police units, monitored the reported vehicles along possible routes.
At a checkpoint operation in Quezon, joint personnel impounded two Isuzu Elf trucks for initial violations involving unsafe loading and failure to present updated vehicle registration.
The trucks were found carrying 57 and 58 motorcycles, respectively. Of the 115 motorcycles, 73 had documents while 42 had no supporting documents. Four additional cannibalized motorcycle-related components, including chassis frames and engine blocks, were also found among the items.
The vehicles and motorcycles were brought to the 1st Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company in Candelaria, Quezon for documentation and further investigation. The report stated that the trucks had been hired to transport an undetermined number of motorcycles.
Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operation shows the importance of acting promptly on information that may help clarify the legality of transported vehicles and protect legitimate vehicle owners and motorists.
“Kapag may impormasyon na kailangang i-check, hindi natin dapat palampasin. We verify, we coordinate, and we act within the law. Ang mahalaga, maayos ang proseso at malinaw ang resulta ng imbestigasyon. Sa ganitong paraan, napoprotektahan natin ang mga lehitimong may-ari at naiiwasan din ang anumang hindi pagkakaunawaan,” PGen Nartatez said.
The operation is in line with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which calls for timely, coordinated, and accountable police action. It also supports the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in strengthening public safety and ensuring that law enforcement remains responsive to the needs of communities.
As documentation and investigation continue, the PNP will determine the appropriate action based on established facts and applicable laws, consistent with due process. This forms part of the PNP’s continuing commitment to Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman, ensuring that police operations are carried out responsibly, professionally, and with the public’s trust in mind.
