General Santos City – A 31-year-old jobless suspect was caught in the act for alleged theft of scrap metals inside the General Santos International Airport on May 23, 2026.

Investigation disclosed that scrap metals owned by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines at General Santos International Airport were being loaded onto a trisikad in an attempt to remove them from the airport premises.

The incident was first reported by a CAAP contractor, who immediately coordinated with personnel of PNP AVSEGROUP @ PNP Aviation Security Unit 12 for proper action and filing of complaint.

The suspect was later taken into custody and turned over to Police Station 7 of the General Santos City Police Office for proper legal proceedings.

PBGEN Dionisio Bartolome Jr. commended the quick response of airport security personnel and reaffirmed AVSEGROUP’s commitment to fast, honest, and responsive police service in ensuring airport safety and security.
