PNP SEIZES ₱9.2-MILLION SUSPECTED COUNTERFEIT SEASONING PRODUCTS, ARRESTS TWO IN BULACAN

Under the leadership of PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), police authorities arrested two women and seized approximately ₱9.255 million worth of suspected counterfeit food seasoning products during an operation in Marilao, Bulacan on October 1.

The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and representatives of the concerned trademark owner. The two suspects, aged 35 and 50, were apprehended during the operation at a warehouse in Barangay Patubig, Marilao.

Authorities recovered a substantial quantity of suspected counterfeit seasoning products, including those obtained during the controlled purchase and additional items found at the site. The seized products were secured and will undergo proper documentation and disposition as part of the case proceedings.

The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and brought to the CIDG office for documentation. Appropriate complaints under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines and the Food Safety Act of 2013 are being prepared for submission to the prosecutor’s office in Malolos City, Bulacan.

Chief PNP PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operation highlights the importance of coordinated enforcement in protecting consumers and legitimate businesses.

“We will continue to act on information involving suspected counterfeit products, especially when these may reach ordinary consumers. At the same time, we will make sure that every enforcement action is properly documented, lawful, and respectful of due process,” PGen Nartatez said.

The operation forms part of the PNP’s continuing implementation of its Focused Agenda and Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which promote coordinated, intelligence-led, and accountable police action. It also supports the broader public safety and consumer protection efforts under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The PNP will continue to strengthen coordination with government agencies and other stakeholders in addressing suspected counterfeit products and other activities that may affect public safety and consumer welfare, consistent with the Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

EARLY DETECTION, COORDINATED RESPONSE STRENGTHEN SCHOOL SAFETY

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), close coordination among police, school personnel, local authorities, and other stakeholders helped address two separate fi***rm-related concerns inside school premises in Northern Samar and Cotabato on October 1, 2026.

In Catarman, Northern Samar, school personnel promptly acted on information that a 15-year-old male student was carrying a fi***rm inside school premises. The fi***rm was secured and the matter was immediately referred to school authorities and the police, who responded and initiated the appropriate intervention.

In Matalam, Cotabato, police and school security personnel conducting routine security monitoring identified a .45-caliber pistol with eight rounds of am******on inside the storage compartment of a motorcycle being driven by a 17-year-old female student. The fi***rm was secured and the matter was referred to the appropriate authorities for assessment and further action.

While the circumstances of the two incidents remain subject to verification, the timely actions taken by school personnel and police helped address the concerns at an early stage and may have prevented situations from developing into more serious incidents.

The efforts are particularly relevant amid recent fi***rm-related incidents in schools in Tacloban City, Zamboanga City, and Banga, South Cotabato, which have renewed attention to the importance of strengthening safety measures in learning environments.

“Ang mahalaga, may nakapansin at may agad na kumilos. Pero hindi ito trabaho ng pulis lang. Kailangan ang tuloy-tuloy na cooperation at close coordination ng PNP, DepEd, school authorities, LGUs, parents, at iba pang stakeholders. Kapag bukas ang communication at nagtutulungan ang lahat, mas mabilis nating naaaksyunan ang anumang concern at mas napapanatiling ligtas ang ating mga paaralan,” PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP continues to strengthen coordination with DepEd, school administrators, local government units, parents, and other stakeholders to improve the reporting and response to safety concerns in schools. These efforts form part of the PNP Focused Agenda through Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), emphasizing preventive action, coordination, and timely police response.

The PNP likewise continues to support the efforts of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to promote safer learning environments for Filipino children. Through sustained cooperation among law enforcement, schools, families, and communities, the PNP remains committed to Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
