In celebration of 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, we proudly feature 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐞𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢 — a distinguished Filipino artist, ethnographer, archaeologist, educator, and cultural advocate dedicated to preserving and promoting Kapampangan heritage.

Known artistically as Mál-a-Árí or “Precious Sun,” Mallari’s contributions span visual arts, archaeology, literature, historical research, and cultural preservation. Formerly serving as a research officer and archaeologist at the Center for Kapampangan Studies until 2012, he now serves as Education Program Supervisor–LRMDS of DepEd City of San Fernando, Pampanga, Museum Consultant of the Diosdado P. Macapagal Museum at Pampanga State University, and President of ANASI (Academia ning Amanung Sisuan Internacional) ANASI (Academia ning Amanung Sisuan Internacional).

He also holds key leadership roles in various cultural and heritage organizations, including Board of Directors Member of KATATAGAN Inc. (2007–present), President of ANASI (2019–present), BOD Member of Crissot Heritage Foundation, Inc. (2025–present), and Vice Head of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts–CNCC Luzon, as well as Chair of the NCCA SCCTA Kapampangan–Sambal–Tagalog Cluster (2016–present).

Recognized with numerous honors such as the 2025 Most Outstanding Kapampangan Award (MOKA) Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awards 2025, The Outstanding Fernandino Award (TOFA) The Outstanding Fernandino Award 2025, 2026 Kadake king Dangal – Pupul ning Banua Award Kadake king Dangal Awards 2026, SP Commendations from both City of San Fernando and Angeles City Sangguniang Panlungsod (2025–2026), as well as earlier distinctions including the Gawad Pagpapahalaga by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the 2013 Book Author Winner – Kawatasan: Obrang Poeta Laureado, Mallari continues to inspire communities through his unwavering dedication to Filipino artistry, education, history, and cultural legacy.

The PSAU Agricultural Museum stands as a testament to the rich agricultural heritage of Pampanga State Agricultural University—where the past meets education, innovation, and inspiration. Through preserved artifacts, traditional tools, and historical collections, we continue to cultivate appreciation for agriculture and its enduring legacy.

In celebration of 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, we recognize the invaluable contributions of Filipino artists who continue to preserve and promote our nation’s cultural identity through their craft.

This feature highlights 𝐌𝐬. 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚, a distinguished contemporary Filipina artist whose Impressionist and realist works reflect meaningful narratives of Filipino identity, faith, resilience, mental health awareness, and women’s empowerment. Through her artistic excellence and advocacy, she continues to elevate Filipino creativity on both local and international platforms.

With profound sorrow, the Office of Library Services and Museum extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues, friends, and the entire Library and Information Science community on the passing of Dr. Juan C. Buenrostro Jr.—a distinguished Filipino educator, author, and one of the pillars of modern Philippine librarianship.

Recognized as the 2022 Outstanding Professional Librarian of the Year by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Dr. Buenrostro dedicated his life to advancing the field of Library and Information Science and inspiring generations of librarians and information professionals through his leadership, wisdom, and service.

His invaluable contributions to education and librarianship will continue to leave a lasting legacy in the hearts and minds of many. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength and comfort during this time of grief. 🕊️

In celebration of National Heritage Month, we recognize significant landmarks that embody the history, identity, and cultural legacy of our community. Among these is the Magalang Municipal Hall, an enduring symbol of public service and local governance in the Municipality of Magalang.

Beyond its administrative function, the Municipal Hall stands as a testament to the municipality’s historical development and collective progress. It reflects the enduring commitment of the local government and the people of Magalang in fostering unity, service, and civic responsibility through generations.

As we commemorate National Heritage Month, may we continue to value and preserve the institutions and structures that contribute to our shared history and cultural identity, ensuring that their significance remains appreciated by future generations.

In celebration of 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, we proudly feature the 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 — remarkable 19th-century colonial communication towers that stand as enduring symbols of history, innovation, and resilience in Pampanga.

Built in 1898 under the supervision of the Spanish Engineering Corps and later utilized during the Philippine Revolution, these historic towers once served as relay stations for transmitting optical signals through heliographs and Morse code across distant towns. Today, the surviving towers in Barangays Sta. Cruz and San Isidro continue to remind us of Magalang’s important role in Philippine history.

Recognized in 2017 by the National Museum of the Philippines and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) as Important Cultural Properties, the Torre Heliografico remains a proud testament to the rich historical and cultural identity of the Kapampangan people.

As we honor National Heritage Month 2026, may these timeless landmarks inspire us to value, protect, and preserve the heritage that connects our communities, history, and shared Filipino identity.

𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐨 — a distinguished Filipino historian, educator, writer, and researcher from Magalang, Pampanga, whose dedication to documenting Kapampangan history, genealogy, ancestral homes, and cultural traditions continues to strengthen and preserve our local heritage for future generations.

As the resident historian of Magalang and author of The Magalang Book: The Historical Life and Culture of a Kapampangan Town (1605–2015) published by the NCCA, his invaluable contributions through historical research and the Amlat Magaleño platform serve as living bridges connecting the past, present, and future of the Kapampangan people.

Through his passion for education and cultural preservation, Mr. Bartolo reminds us that our stories, traditions, and heritage are treasures worth protecting and sharing.
