Magallanes, Agusan del Norte — The Negosyo Center Magallanes successfully conducted its monthly price monitoring for Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) and construction supplies on April 16, 2026, across selected business establishments within the municipality.

The activity aims to ensure that the prices of essential goods remain fair, reasonable, and within the Suggested Retail Prices (SRPs), in line with the government’s commitment to protect consumers from unjust pricing practices.

Amid ongoing economic challenges, the Negosyo Center emphasized the importance of closely monitoring BNPCs and construction materials. These commodities play a crucial role in daily living and local development, especially during times of crisis. By intensifying monitoring efforts, the office seeks to prevent exploitation and ensure that the public continues to have access to affordable and sufficient goods.

Business establishments are likewise reminded to strictly adhere to the provisions of Republic Act No. 7581 and Presidential Decree No. 1865, which prohibit illegal acts such as profiteering, hoarding, and unauthorized price increases. Violations of these laws may result in penalties, including fines, imprisonment, and possible cancellation of business permits.

The results and findings from the price monitoring activity will be submitted to the Department of Trade and Industry Consumer Protection Division for further review and appropriate action.

Negosyo Center Magallanes continues to encourage cooperation among local businesses and stakeholders in promoting fair trade practices and safeguarding consumer welfare.

Named after Teodora Alonso, the mother of José Rizal and known for nurturing a love for learning and literature, Gawad Teodora Alonso is a national recognition that honors outstanding Filipino writers, illustrators, and creators of children’s and youth literature. The award celebrates stories and artworks that inspire young Filipinos and strengthen the country’s literary culture.

This year, talents from the Schools Division Office of Agusan del Norte (SDO ADN) brought pride to the province:
