When I first arrived in Manila almost six years ago, I was greeted not just by the tropical breeze, but a warmth that radiated from the people themselves. It’s the beginning of what I knew would be an unforgettable and extraordinary journey.

But what I didn’t know then was, I would have the honor of serving as the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines for five years and ten months, making me the longest-serving Chinese ambassador to the Philippines.

Over the years, I have come to know the Philippines not simply as a diplomat at a podium, but through visits to many places across this country. I have journeyed through the rice fields of Luzon and stood by the serene shores of Mindanao and Visayas. I have walked through vibrant markets in bustling China Town of Manila and listened to the joyful songs of children in schools rebuilt through our cooperation in the Cagayan Valley.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we turned over vital medical supplies to the Filipino people, and we were the first to provide vaccines. This was a strong testament to the enduring traditional friendship between the peoples of China and the Philippines, as they stood together through thickand thin.

Also, I have witnessed the ups and downs of the bilateral relations. It is no secret that our two countries have faced challenges—disputes that have tested our patience, and moments that have called for our wisdom. But beyond this, there is a quieter story. A story of travelers who arrived as strangers and left as friends in the Boracay Island. Of musicians who don’t speak the same language, but played in harmony just the same at Aliw Theater. Of engineers working side by side to build the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge over the Pasig River. Of migrants who build lives in each other’s countries, becoming bridges between the two peoples.

And throughout it all, I have deeply felt the friendship and goodwill of the Philippine people toward the Chinese people. The Philippine people are kind, warm and hospitable. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely hope that the people of the Philippines will enjoy a happy and affluent life, and they deserve a bright and prosperous future.

Though my assignment here concludes, the memories and friendships I have gained will remain with me always. I truly hope and believe that more and more people with vision and goodwill will join us in bringing our relationship back onto the right track and strengthening the friendship between the peoples of China and the Philippines. When we combine every voice of reason, we create a powerful force that can move our shared journey forward.

Maraming salamat. Until we meet again.

It is with immense honor and joy that the Chinese Embassy in Manila celebrates the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. We are deeply grateful for the gracious presence of H.E First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, Hon. House Speaker Faustino Dy III, and Hon. Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs Maria Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega, alongside our distinguished guests, friends, and compatriots. We are also profoundly honored by the congratulatory message from H.E Vice President Sara Duterte.

Over the past 76 years, China has made tremendous achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. We have presented to the world an economically booming China, an innovation-driven China, and a peace-dedicated China.

This year holds special significance as we mark the 50th anniversary of China-Philippines diplomatic relations. Despite challenges, the enduring friendship between our peoples — forged over a thousand years — gives us confidence that with continued efforts, our relations will return to the right track of sound and steady development.

This year, we also solemnly mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. History has taught us that peace, cooperation, and win-win outcomes are the enduring themes of human progress.

This is also a moment of farewell. I have had the honor of serving as the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines for five years and ten months, making me the longest-serving Chinese ambassador to the Philippines. The Philippine people are kind, warm and hospitable. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely hope that people of the Philippines will enjoy a happy and prosperous life. I also hope that more people of vision will join in advancing China-Philippines relations, so that every stream of reason and goodwill may merge into an unstoppable force driving our shared journey forward.

Happy National Day to my Chinese compatriots! My sincere thanks to all our Filipino friends for joining this festive celebration filled with joy and hope for the future.
