On February 26, MATRADE Manila co-organised the Roundtable Forum on Halal Industry with the Halal Task Force, DTI, aimed to identify key opportunities for collaboration in halal certification, trade, and investment as well as capacity building initiatives between Malaysia and the Philippines.

The event, held at the Embassy of Malaysia, was attended by nearly 100 stakeholders of the halal industry including the members of Philippines Halal Board, halal certification bodies, Malaysian companies as well as Philippine companies.

The event featured keynote speeches from pivotal figures in the Halal industry, including:
• H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines;
• Hons. Englebert Josef Go Chua, Assistant Secretary and Chief of Staff of DTI; and
• Hons. Khairul Azwan Harun, Chairman of Halal Development Corporation (HDC) Malaysia.

The Trade Commissioner of MATRADE Manila, who was one of the speakers during the event, highlighted MIHAS 2025. The event also featured two panel sessions featuring prominent lineups from both public and private sectors to discuss and ideate the steps forward to drive the growth of the Halal industry in the Philippines.
