In line with the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) invites all Philippine Statistical System (PSS) member agencies/entities to participate in the 35th NSM STATikTok Contest.
The 35th NSM STATikTok Contest aims to advocate the statistics/statistical activities produced/undertaken by PSS agencies/entities or their mandate to advocate the use and importance of statistics to the public.

CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR โ The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), in partnership with the Department of Tourism - Philippines, conducted the Magnificent Magic 7 - MM7 Local Tourism Development Plan (LTDP) Formulation Training-Workshop at the Aloha Nui Resort, 24 to 30 August 2023.
The activity aims to capacitate more than 70 participants with the necessary tools and processes to formulate and finalize local tourism development plans. This shall minimize delays in securing funding for the proposed MM7 interconnectivity of roads that connect tourism sites and projects.
MM7 is a local convergence platform based in the 2nd District of Ilocos Sur and is composed of seven local government units: Alilem, Cervantes, Quirino, Sta. Cruz, Sta. Lucia, Sugpon and Suyo. These municipalities collectively promote convergence among government offices to help address poverty through increased participation of stakeholders, accountable governance, and responsive economic platform.

The Statistics, Economic Analysis, and Information Management Division (SEAIMD) headed to Baguio City to conduct the Tourism Product Market Survey (TPMS) last November 9-18, 2021. The enumerators were stationed at key attractions including Tam-awan Village, Diplomat Hotel, and Burnham Park; and in key accommodation establishments La Fayette Luxury Suites and Le Monet Hotel.
The survey aims to gather data on visitor's travel preferences, spending, and demographic profile, among others. Data collected shall be used as inputs for tourism policy and development planning.

In partnership with the Department of Tourism Region VI, the Statistics, Economic Analysis and Information Management (SEAIMD) conducted the Tourism Enterprise Forum - Business Indicators (TEF-BI) for Boracay tourism stakeholders last 27 October 2021.
In her opening remarks, Regional Director Christine Mansinares emphasized the importance of statistics for tourism development. Ms. Pheobe Zelie Areรฑo of DOT Region VI provided the updates on tourism statistics in Western Visayas. Ms. Rey Jean Almazan of SEAIMD discussed the basic business indicators and the templates used for data gathering. The Malay Municipal Tourism Office was also asked to deliberate the schedule of their data submission.
The training was attended by participants representing the accommodation establishments, tour operators, and other establishments. The forum aims to promote the appreciation of statistics among tourism enterprises.

On October 25-26, 2021, the Statistics, Economic Analysis, and Information Management Division conducted an orientation on the use of Market Assessment Tool for Tourist Attractions (MATTA) among tourism officers of Western Visayas. For the field work, the participants visited two establishments - the Fairways & Bluewater Boracay and the Belmont Hotel Boracay.
The MATTA is intended to help policymakers and development managers assess the market potential of sites. It is proposed to include MATTA as a standard template for tourism data gathering nationwide.
This pilot conduct of site assessment is part of the activities in the 10-day visit of SEAIMD last October in Boracay Island.
