Ibinunyag ni Makati Mayor Abby Binay sa kanyang column sa isang pahayagan ngayong Lunes, Agosto 26 na mayroong 824 indoor at 200 outdoor air quality moni­toring devices na may kasamang solar panels na naka-install sa lahat ng barangay ng Makati.

"Ang mga sensor na ito ay nakakonekta sa internet, kaya’t direkta nilang naipapadala ang datos sa ating Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Operations Center," giit ng alkalde.

"Real-time ang data na nakukuha natin, kaya’t mabilis tayong nakakapagbigay ng abiso sa mga lugar na mataas ang pollution level at maaaring makaapekto sa kalusugan," dagdag pa niya.

Ang mga high-tech devices ay hindi lang basta nagmo-monitor ng air quality, ngunit nasusukat din ng mga ito ang temperatura, air moisture, carbon dioxide level at maging ang kapal ng alikabok sa hangin.

Sinabi rin ng alkalde na ang mga datos sa air monitoring system ay agad nilang nai-post sa social media upang maipaalam sa mga residente ang kondisyon ng hanging sa kanilang kapaligiran at mapangalagaan ang kanilang kalusugan.

Nitong Oktubre 10, personal na tinanggap ni Mayor Abby ang pitong plake ng parangal mula sa Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) ng Department of Finance (DOF) para sa angking kahusayan ng Makati, gayundin ang pamumuno ng alkalde, dahil sa pinakamataas na ratio ng local source revenues sa kabuuang operating income para sa fiscal years ng 2022 at 2023.

"We are honored to receive these accolades. These are testaments to the persistent efforts of the city government to expand our revenue base through reforms and smart innovations that promote efficiency and transparency in our revenue collection and processing of business permits and licenses,” pahayag ni Mayor Abby.

“For the past eight years, Makati’s sustainable and strong local economy has made it possible for the city government to undertake game-changing innovations that have made our services and programs better and more conveniently accessible to residents and other stakeholders,” dagdag pa ng alkalde.
