⚠️PRICE FREEZE ALERT⚠️

In view of the declaration of a State of Calamity in the whole province of Occidental Mindoro (Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 522 Series of 2026) due to the effects of Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Depressions Maymay and Neneng, the prices of basic necessities (listed below) are hereby automatically frozen at their prevailing levels, effective for the duration of the condition that brought about the declaration, but not exceeding sixty (60) days. This price freeze bulletin is issued pursuant to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 7581, otherwise known as the “Price Act,” as amended.

Below is the list of basic necessities per RA 7581 as amended by RA 10623, under the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) jurisdiction:

1. Canned fish and other marine products
2. Processed milk (evaporated, condensed, and powdered milk)
3. Coffee
4. Laundry/ detergent soap
5. Candles
6. Bread (tasty and pandesal)
7. Iodized salt
8. Instant Noodles
9. Bottled Water

Violators shall suffer the penalty of imprisonment of not less than one year nor more than 10 years, or a fine ranging from Php5,000.00 to Php1,000,000.00, or both at the discretion of the court aside from the applicable administrative penalties.

DTI MIMAROPA will conduct intensified price and supply monitoring of basic necessities under the Department's jurisdiction.

DTI Palawan successfully conducted a 2-Day Training on Coconut Shell Fashion Accessories and Home Décor on September 1–2, 2026 at BJMP Brooke’s Point, Palawan, with 17 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) actively participating.

The training aimed to enhance participants’ technical skills in transforming coconut shells into innovative and value-added products. Through the expert guidance of Mr. Marlon Molarte of Magnus Craft and Accessories, participants gained hands-on experience in shaping, sanding, and finishing raw coconut shells into unique fashion accessories and home décor items with market potential.

More than developing craftsmanship, the activity empowered the participants with practical livelihood skills that can pave the way for entrepreneurship and future MSME opportunities. Aligned with DTI’s commitment to value-adding and inclusive economic development, the training also supports BJMP’s rehabilitation program by helping prepare PDLs for productive and self-reliant reintegration into society.

By transforming simple coconut shells into creative products, participants are discovering new possibilities for livelihood, innovation, and a brighter future.

DTI Palawan remains steadfast in supporting and promoting products crafted by BJMP PDLs, showcasing their creativity while advancing locally made and sustainable coconut-based innovations.
