The seminar brought together Marikina-based MSMEs, barangay officials, representatives from the academe, and other community stakeholders to enhance their awareness and preparedness on matters concerning business security, safety, peace, and order.

As the guest resource speaker, PCol. Tecson emphasized the importance of taking a proactive approach to business security. Rather than waiting for crimes, emergencies, or other incidents to occur, business owners were encouraged to identify potential risks, adopt preventive measures, establish appropriate safety protocols, and maintain close coordination with law enforcement authorities and their respective communities.

The activity was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry โ€“ National Capital Regional Office (DTI-NCRO), through the Center for Innovation and Technology for Enterprises (CITE), in partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) โ€“ New Marikina.

The initiative reflects the shared commitment of DTI-NCRO and PCCI-New Marikina to provide MSMEs with not only business development opportunities, but also practical knowledge that can help them better prepare for risks and challenges that may affect their operations.

The training featured resource speakers from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Ms. Ma. Lourdes Ilagan and Ms. Hannah P. Madriaga, who provided participants with valuable insights into FDA registration and licensing requirements for food enterprises. Discussions covered the application process for the License to Operate (LTO) and Certificate of Product Registration (CPR), documentary requirements, and the compliance responsibilities of food business operators.

Through lectures, guided discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and practical examples, the training enhanced participantsโ€™ understanding of FDA requirements and highlighted the importance of regulatory compliance in ensuring food safety, consumer protection, and business credibility. The activity also equipped SSF beneficiaries and MSMEs with relevant knowledge to strengthen their regulatory preparedness and support their efforts toward greater market access.

This initiative underscores the SSF Programโ€™s continuing commitment to strengthening the capabilities of MSMEs through relevant capacity-building interventions and technical support, while promoting regulatory compliance and the development of safe, competitive, and sustainable food enterprises.
