In partnership with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Manila, Solidaridad Bookshop presents the fourth installment of its Literary Series, “Ang R.U.R. ni Čapek sa Salin ni Sicat at ang Ating Panahon,” featuring Dr. Luna Sicat-Cleto, in collaboration with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda.

More than 100 years after R.U.R. introduced the word “robot” to the world, its questions on technology, work, and humanity remain strikingly relevant in the age of artificial intelligence.

The conversation takes on added meaning this year as Czechia is Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2026, following the Philippines’ turn in 2025.

Join us on October 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Solidaridad Bookshop as we revisit this literary classic through Rogelio Sicat’s Filipino translation and bring its questions into the present.
