📖 Philbook Visit

This week, the France Volontaires Philippines team visited two volunteers based at Philbook , Claire and Eloi, deployed under a VSI contract through Missions Etrangères de Paris.

Phil’book is a volunteer-led initiative whose mission is to provide children in vulnerable communities with access to culture through books and reading activities.

Our team attended a morning session at the Phil’book library, which welcomes children from Caloocan for reading activities and arts and crafts workshops. In the afternoon, a street reading session took place with the support of Mum Percy, a dedicated local volunteer, as part of daily outreach activities in different communities. 📚

Claire and Eloi are deeply committed volunteers whose work goes far beyond sharing books. In addition to their educational activities, they also support the association’s operations, including fundraising, communications, and accounting, contributing to its overall functioning.

🧡 Their dedication helps bring reading to life across slums in Caloocan, offering children moments of learning, imagination, and connection.

Our volunteers enjoyed a creative and relaxing afternoon crafting their own beaded pieces over a glass of wine, guided by a talented Nanay artisan from Likhaya by Virlanie, who shared her craftswomanship, creativity, and passion with everyone. 💎

Through this hands-on workshop, participants discovered the joy of handmade art while supporting meaningful community initiatives. 🌸

🤝 Yesterday, FV Philippines organized its general partners meeting, gathering local partner institutions, French sending organizations, and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency.

💬 With 2026 recognized by the United Nations as the , the meeting allowed us to align the goals of France Volontaires with those of our partners and volunteers, as well as gather feedback on our volunteer deployment programs and discuss key concerns and priorities for the rest of 2026.
