Game developers, creatives, and fans are set to converge at the SMX Convention Center on June 20โ21 for ALT + TAB Festival 2026, a two-day celebration of science, technology, gaming, and pop culture.
The festival was officially launched during a press conference at DOST-STII Mini Theater, with DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr. serving as the guest of honor on June 15, 2026.
Inspired by the keyboard shortcut 'Alt+Tab', the event aims to highlight the intersection between science, technology, gaming, music, and pop culture, with different events happening simultaneously.
DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. emphasized the reason behind the support of the agency to the e-sports, game development, and creative industry: "Mayroon nang talent, although hindi nababanggit kasi mga foreign companies ang nag-u-utilize. And that is why the first engagement that we have would be the e-sports and then recently [ay partnership sa] mga game development groups tulad ng Gridlock, and of course, we are all boosting for the popularization of game development animation through the Regional and National Science and Technology Week (RSTW/NSTW) contests."
Through its commitment to strengthening the countryโs creative industries, DOST continues to support game development as a platform for nurturing Filipino talent and building human capital in the digital economy, with Gridlock Games Studio leading the festivalโone of the success stories of DOSTโs Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines Program.
Join us on June 20โ21, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center and discover how science, technology, and creativity are shaping the future of Filipino innovation. Whether you're a gamer, developer, inventor, student, or tech enthusiast, ALT+TAB Festival 2026 has something for you.
