This March, the 𝐒𝐓𝐂𝐉𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 joins the whole-month celebration of the 2026 “𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡” with the theme “𝑾𝑬 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚” and the sub-theme “𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒔, 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒔!”

This celebration highlights and reminds us that women have always been strong leaders in our history. Like the Babaylans of pre-colonial Philippines, women lead with wisdom, courage, and care for their community.

Throughout the month, we recognize and honor the important role of women in our families, schools, workplaces, and society. We also continue to support equal opportunities and inclusive spaces for everyone, especially women in our society.

According to the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, around 90 𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑛 𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑑 5–19 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑠 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑𝑤𝑖𝑑𝑒. This February, the 𝐒𝐓𝐂𝐉𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 celebrates “𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞” that is commemorated under the theme “𝑹𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆.” Observed every 20𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 and first proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007. A 3-day “𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫” organized by 𝐖𝐒 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐈𝐧𝐜. was held at 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 from January 26–28, 2026, and ended successfully yesterday. 📚

The event welcomed our 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩. 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, and 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐩𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐬, giving them the opportunity to explore a variety of books suited to their levels and interests. Through this Book Fair, students were encouraged to develop reading awareness, spark curiosity, and enjoy learning in a fun and meaningful way. ✨

In observance of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, the STCJA Library pauses to honor a tradition of faith and devotion shared by all Filipinos. We commemorate the perseverance, hopefulness, and unwavering devotion of those who joined with the Nazarene Traslacion today. 🙏🏻

The Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Señor Jesus Nazareno, observed every January 9, is among the most important religious celebrations in the Philippines. It commemorates the life-sized image of Jesus Christ bearing the cross, revered as the Black Nazarene, which is enshrined at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila. 🕍🧎🏻‍♀️

🙋🏼‍♂️𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐍𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞:

- The image was damaged and became darker when the galleon carrying it caught fire.

- The Black Nazarene image was brought by the Augustinian Recollect Friars to the Church of San Juan Bautista in Bagumbayan, now part of Rizal Park, on May 31, 1606. It was transferred to the bigger Recollect church of San Nicolas de Tolentino in 1608.

- An unknown Mexican artist painted the image of the semi-kneeling Christ a dark brown color, similar to his own skin. The image was entrusted to a Recollect parish and brought to Manila from Mexico.

- Two popes have officially recognized the image (Pope Innocent X and Pope Pius VII)

- The Traslacion in 2012, which took 22 hours, was one of the Longest Processions in the History of the image.

- Señor Nazareno is placed on an andas (carriage) which has wheels but not motor and pulled by mamamasan. The original andas was made of silver until it sustained damage in 1976.

- The Black Nazarene’s left cheek was damaged by a gunshot in the late 1990’s
