The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) joins the global celebration of International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) 2026, with the theme โClean Seas for Resilient Communities.โ
International Coastal Clean-up is a global initiative that brings together communities, organizations, government agencies, and volunteers to clean and protect coastal and marine environment. It aims to reduce marine litter, promote proper waste management, and raise awareness about the harmful effects of waste on marine biodiversity and coastal habitats.
A coastal clean-up activity was conducted along the coastal area of Brgy. Tuyan, Malapatan, Sarangani Province resulting in the collection of more than 500 kgs of trash, including plastic bottles, food wrappers, straws, discarded fishing gear, garments, plastic containers, and diapers, which may negatively impact marine life and coastal ecosystems.
The activity was actively participated in by the Office of the Municipal Vice Mayor, headed by Hon. Jean D. Delos Santos; Hon. Nasser Suib; BLGU Tuyan Officials headed by Brgy. Captain Ritchel P. Rabor; PCG, BFP, PNP-Maritime, 4P's beneficiaries, TUPAD workers, Protected Area (PA) Ranger, and Bantay Dagat.
Through collective action and community participation, the activity contributes to the protection of coastal and marine ecosystems and promotes greater awareness of the importance of keeping our seas clean for healthier and more resilient communities.
