The Sangguniang Bayan has finally approved an ordinance that aims to simplify the requirements and streamline the processing of Business Permits in the Municipality of Malay.
This measure seeks to lessen unnecessary requirements and delays, make government transactions easier for our business sector, and encourage more people to invest and start businesses in Malay.
The ordinance amends Municipal Ordinance No. 579, Series of 2025, with the following major changes:
β
For Boracay Island: DENR ECC/CNC/COC and similar requirements will no longer form part of the requirements for the issuance of a Business Permit, addressing the additional burden and delays experienced by business owners who previously had to process these requirements with the concerned DENR office in Iloilo.
β
Businesses with a capital investment of β±100,000 and below will no longer be required to secure a Building Permit as part of the Business Permit requirements, helping small entrepreneurs avoid costly professional fees associated with building plans and related documents.
β
SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and other national government agency requirements will be removed from the Citizenβs Charter as prerequisites for the issuance of a Business Permit. Compliance with these agencies remains subject to applicable national laws and regulations, but will no longer unnecessarily delay the LGUβs processing of business permits.
β
Clear processing timeframes will be established to ensure faster and more efficient Business Permit transactions.
Once signed by the Municipal Mayor and upon compliance with the applicable requirements for effectivity, the ordinance will take effect.
By removing unnecessary barriers and simplifying government processes, we hope to open more opportunities for investment in Malay and empower more Malaynons to start and grow their own businesses.
