Local Government Code @ 35!

As we commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Local Government Code of 1991, hear the inspiring messages of local chief executives from MIMAROPA as they reflect on three and a half decades of strengthened local autonomy, responsive governance, and meaningful public service.

mga katuwang sa pag-unlad, at sa lahat ng ating mga kababayan!

Today, we celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Republic Act No. 7160, or the Local Government Code of 1991. This landmark law strengthened local governance and laid the foundation for genuine and meaningful local Autonomy.

For 35 years, the Code has empowered our LGUs to make decisions closer to our people, manage our resources, set our local priorities, and pursue programs responsive to our communities. It has enabled our local governments to become active drivers of development and partners in building stronger and more self-reliant communities.

Local autonomy, however, is both a privilege and a responsibility. Its true value is seen in our ability to sustain essential services, strengthen our local institutions, create opportunities, and improve the lives of our people.

As we mark this milestone, let us continue to strengthen local governance and empower our LGUs to deliver meaningful and lasting development for our communities. Together, let us build stronger and more capable local governments that can meet todayโ€™s needs and create greater opportunities for a more resilient, inclusive, and progressive Philippines.

The DILG Occidental Mindoro Provincial Office welcomed the Third-Party Monitoring (TPM) team led by its partner Civil Society Organization (CSO), Gawad Kalinga CDFI, during a courtesy call in connection with the 2026 Third-Party Monitoring of LGSF Projects.

The courtesy call provided an opportunity to strengthen coordination, discuss monitoring activities, and foster collaboration among concerned stakeholders toward the effective implementation and monitoring of locally funded projects.

Through sustained partnership and collaboration, the DILG Occidental Mindoro Provincial Office remains committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and effective local governance.
