MANDALUYONG, NO. 1 SA PAGSUGPO NG PAGKA-BANSOT (STUNTING) NG MGA BATA SA BUONG NCR.

NANGUNA ang Lungsod Ng Mandaluyong sa mga lokal na pamahalaan sa buong Metro Manila bilang pinakamahusay sa larangan ng pagsugpo ng pagka-bansot o stunted children, alinsunod sa inilabas na datos ng National Nutrition Council at ABS CBN News Channel.

Ipinagmamalaki ni Mayor Menchie Abalos ng Mandaluyong ang PINAKAMABABANG PORSYENTO NG PAGKABANSOT (STUNTING) o naantalang paglaki sa mga batang may edad 0–5 sa BUONG METRO MANILA.

Mula sa naitalang 0.168 prevalence rate, iilan na lamang o halos WALA nang bansot sa Tiger City bunsod ng strikto at epektibong implementasyon ng mga programang pangkalusugan at nutrisyon sa lungsod.

“Walang puwang ang kapabayaan sa Mandaluyong,” diin ni Mayor Menchie habang tiniyak ang patuloy na pagbibigay ng wastong nutrisyon sa mga bata sa kanilang Unang Sanlibong Araw ng buhay or First 1000 days -mula sa pagbubuntis ng ina hanggang sa ikalawang taon ng bata.

Kilala bilang dating Millennium Baby Project, ang programang ito ay isang hakbang tungo sa mas matibay, mas malusog, at mas maunlad na kinabukasan para sa mga sanggol.

Ang bansot o stunted ay isang uri malnutrisyon kung saan ang isang bata ay masyadong mababa o maliit para sa kanilang edad, na madalas ay sanhi ng hindi pagkain ng tama, pangmatagalang malnutrisyon o kakulangan sa nutrisyon. Hindi lamang ito pisikal na katangian, kundi indikasyon din ng mabagal na pag-unlad ng utak at kakayahang matuto.

Para maiwasan ang stunting, napakahalagang matutukan ang pagkain ng masustansyang pagkain pagsunod sa "Pinggang Pinoy", kung saan ipinapakita ang dami ng dapat kaining gulay, kanin, karne o isda at prutas at pagkakaroon ng physical activities para sa mga bata.

Hawak ng Mandaluyong ang pinakamataas na parangal sa Nutrisyon na iginawad ng Department of Health at National Nutrition Council sa buong Pilipinas noong 2016 sa pamamahala ni dating Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr. at noo’y City Nutrition Action Officer Mayor Menchie Abalos.

As part of the 31st Cityhood and 82nd Liberation Day of Mandaluyong City, the Palaro ng Lahi once again filled the celebration with energy, teamwork, and community spirit. More than a series of games, it was a reminder that our traditional Filipino play continues to shape character and bring people together.

Held every year, this event keeps our heritage alive. In a fast changing world, it allows our youth to experience the value of cooperation, discipline, resilience, and respect. It proves that culture is not only remembered but lived.

This meaningful program was made possible through the initiative of Mayor Menchie Abalos, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and the Local Council for the Protection of Children. Their continued support shows that investing in the youth and preserving our traditions will always remain a priority. 💙
