Last April 26–28, 2026, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development - Innovation Staff visited Flora Central School for the Innovation Camp for Grade Schoolers (ICGS v2) as part of their monitoring activities for the 2024 Innovation Grants.

Implemented by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Science High School Cordillera Administrative Region Campus, the project aims to foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and scientific inquiry among elementary school students and educators across the Cordillera region. 🔬💡

The ICGS v2 is one of the 13 projects approved by the National Innovation Council during the 2024 call for applications. The Innovation Grants is the NIC's flagship program annually providing funding support to innovative programs, activities, and projects (PAPs) of eligible public sector institutions.

ICYMI: DEPDev Regional Office MIMAROPA, which serves as the 2026 Presidential Filipinnovation Awards (PFA) Luzon Sub-National Secretariat, initiated the Coaching and Mentoring Sessions today, May 29, 2026, weeks ahead from the Luzon Sub-National Competition!

Ang OstreaVent2™ ay isang FDA-approved adult ventilator na may kakayahang mag-monitor ng 3,000 breaths in real-time. Maari rin mapagana ito mula sa baterya, kaya napakalaking tulong nito tuwing may power outages o kapag kailangang i-transport ang pasyente. 🩺

Orihinal na ginawa bilang tugon sa ventilator shortages noong COVID-19 pandemic, tinutulungan ng OstreaVent2™ masolusyunan ang patuloy na pangangailangan ng bansa sa mga medical technology na abot-kaya at madaling i-maintain.

The National Innovation Council (NIC) Secretariat fully supports the government's continuing efforts to improve public service delivery under Republic Act No. 11032, otherwise known as the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.

Pursuant to Section 24 (Removing Barriers to Innovation) of Republic Act No. 11293, or the Philippine Innovation Act, the NIC is mandated to eliminate regulatory barriers and cut red tape. By streamlining these processes, we ensure that innovation efforts can flow more seamlessly across all sectors of the economy.

In line with this mandate, during its 9th meeting last year, the NIC reviewed DEPDev's Policy Reform Study on "Streamlining Business Registration, Renewal, and Exit Processes." This study addresses the administrative challenges that business enterprises—especially startups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)—must navigate when starting, maintaining, and closing their operations.
