As a child, a Dutch boy loved to experiment with windmills and other machines and to watch the ripples produced by throwing a stone into water. The great French scientist was later impressed by his skills in geometry, as was , who christened him "the new Archimedes". Mersenne, the famous French polymath, wrote to his father that his child had the potential to “even surpass ”. That Dutch boy is our "scientist of the day" today.

An exceptionally talented mathematician and physicist, Huygens was the first to idealize a physical problem by a set of parameters then analyse it mathematically and the first to fully mathematize a mechanistic explanation of an unobservable physical phenomenon. For these reasons, he has been called the first theoretical physicist and one of the founders of modern mathematical physics.

Today we introduce you about an Italian man who was a genius and well ahead of his time and the best example of the Renaissance man. He was perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived. Without formal education, he made substantial discoveries in anatomy, civil engineering, hydrodynamics, geology, optics, and tribology. His fame within his own lifetime was such that the King of France carried him away like a trophy, and was claimed to have supported him in his old age and held him in his arms as he died. That great Italian man is our (second) "scientist of the day" today.

Although he had no formal academic training, many historians and scholars regard Leonardo as the prime exemplar of the "Universal Genius", an individual of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly inventive imagination."
He was a fundamentally different kind of scientist from , and other scientists who followed him in that, as ......

It's death anniversary of an exceptional scientist - -
(Scientist of the Day - 19 April)
Although he is not much celebrated in scientific history, this may be due in part to the fact that he was a man in life, with a general distaste for glory or unnecessary publicity. However, to understand the trajectory of his work, it is necessary to understand the life that he led, his early work in physics, and the passion for scientific investigation that enabled his achievements.
His studies of substances were .....
